A PPLICATION having been made for the issue of a provisional certificate of title for Town Sections 712, 713, 714, 715, Halcombe, described in Vol. xxxviii., folio 266, and evidence having been lodged as to the loss of the original certificate of title, I give notice that I will issue the certificate as requested, unless caveat be lodged forbidding the same on or before the 5th day of June, 1890.

April.—Strong wind on 1st and 2nd from N.W., but generally fine weather up to the 11th; from 11th to 18th very showery, unpleasant, and oppressive weather; the maximum rainfall recorded on 14th, ·80in.; remainder of month fine, with moderate winds, chiefly from N. and N.W., except strong on 29th; the prevailing wind from N.W. Maximum temperature in shade, 72; minimum, 43. Mean temperature of dewpoint, 51·0; mean humidity, 73. Earthquake on 19th, at 4.5 a.m., smart.

Mining Notices.
NOTICE OF INTENTION TO CONSTRUCT A WATER-RACE.
Hindon, 14th May, 1890.
To the Warden at Dunedin.
I HEREBY give notice that I intend to construct a Water-race to divert and use water for mining purposes, commencing at a point in Machine Creek, in Section 14, Block III., Mount Hyde, and terminating at machine-site, in the mining reserve, as marked on sketch.
The length of such race is 264 chains or thereabouts, and its intended course is—starting in Machine Creek, in Section 14, Block III., passing through Sections 15, 25, 27, 28, 29, and 30, terminating at machine-site, in Section 21, Block IV., as marked in the attached plan.
The mean depth of such race is 12in., and the mean breadth is 12in., and it is proposed to divert one Government-head of water.
Cost of construction, £158; time required for construction, three months.
Number and date of miner’s right: 44471, 14th May, 1890.
