New Electoral Districts.

A PROCLAMATION.

WHEREAS the Permanent Commission appointed under the provisions of “The Representation Act, 1887,” have made their report to me under their hands and seals, setting forth the names and boundaries of the electoral districts fixed by them in accordance with the said Act and the Acts amending the same:

Now, therefore, in pursuance of the provisions of the fifth section of “The Representation Act, 1887,” I, William Hillier, Earl of Onslow, the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, do hereby proclaim the names and boundaries of the electoral districts so fixed by the said Commission to be those respectively mentioned and set out in the Schedule hereto.

SCHEDULE.

NORTH ISLAND ELECTORAL DISTRICTS.

BAY OF ISLANDS.

THIS district is bounded towards the north-east generally by the ocean, from North Cape to Helena Bay; thence towards the south-east generally by Township Reserve and Sections Nos. 2 and 1, Block I., Opuawhanga Survey District, to the north-western corner of the latter section; thence by the boundary-line between Native land and Crown land (the said boundary-line being part of the north-west boundary-line of Whangarei County) to the Taparahai River; thence by the said Taparahai River, the Kaimamaku River, and the Whakapara River to the confluence of the last-mentioned river with the Wairua River; thence by the said Wairua River to its confluence with the Wairoa River; and thence by the said Wairoa River to a right line drawn between Trig. Station No. 41 (Tangihua), Maungaru Survey District, and Trig. Station No. 18 (Te Tarai-o-Rahiri), Mangakahia Survey District; thence again towards the north-east by a right line to the said Trig. Station No. 41; thence towards the north and again towards the north-east by a right line to the north-western corner of Section No. 16, Block III., Tangihua Survey District, and by Section No. 7, Block I., and Sections Nos. 92 (eastern and western portions), 91, 90, 89 (eastern and western portions), 88, 87, 129, 130, 25 (eastern and western portions), 24 (northern and southern portions), and 18, all of Maungakaramea Parish, in the said Tangihua Survey District, to the Tauraroa River; thence again towards the south-east by the said Tauraroa River to its confluence with the Mangonui River; thence again towards the north-east by the said Mangonui River to the main road from Tokatoka to Waikiekie, which passes through Section No. 174, Okahu Parish, Tangihua Survey District aforesaid; thence again towards the south-east by the said road from Tokatoka to Waikiekie to the southernmost corner of Section No. 89 of the said Okahu Parish, Tokatoka Survey District; thence by the road which forms the north-eastern boundary of the north-western portion of Section No. 36 of Tokatoka Parish; thence by the said north-western portion of Section No. 36, and by Sections Nos. 35, 34 (northern and southern portions), 33, 31, 30 (northern portion), 25, 23, 13, 12, 24, and an education reserve of 1 acre, all of the said Parish of Tokatoka, to the north-western corner of the said Section No. 24; thence by a right line across the Wairoa River to the northernmost corner of Section No. 12, Tatarariki Parish, Tokatoka Survey District; thence again towards the north-east by the Wairoa River; again towards the south-east by the Kaipara Entrance; towards the south-west generally by the ocean; and again towards the north by the ocean: including Cavalli and adjacent islands.

MARSDEN.

This district is bounded towards the north-east generally by the ocean, from the northernmost corner of a township reserve, situate at Helena Bay, in Block I., Opuawhanga Survey District, to the north head of Mahurangi Harbour; thence towards the south-west by the said Mahurangi Harbour to Duck Creek; thence towards the north-west by the said Duck Creek to Section No. 25, Mahurangi Parish, Mahurangi Survey District; thence by the said Section No. 25 to the Matakana River; thence towards the west by the said Section No. 25 and Sections Nos. 26, 28, and 29 of the said Mahurangi Parish to Section No. 30; thence towards the south by the river which forms the northern boundary of the said Section No. 30, and which forms the northern boundaries of Sections Nos. 31, 32, 33, and 34, of a block of Crown land, and of Sections Nos. 35 and 110, all of Mahurangi Parish aforesaid, to a point in line with the north-western boundary-line of the last-mentioned section; thence by a right line to the summit of The Dome; thence again towards the west by a line due north to the right bank of the Waiwhiu River; thence again towards the south-west and towards the south-east generally by the said Waiwhiu River and the Hcteo River respectively to the Kaipara River; thence again towards the south-west generally by the said Kaipara River and the Wairoa River to a point in line with the northern boundary-line of Te Kuri Parish; thence again towards the south-east by a right line across the said Wairoa River to the northernmost corner of the said Te Kuri Parish;
