Fixing Time and Place for First Meeting of Grey
Licensing Committee.

ORDER IN COUNCIL.

At the Government Buildings, at Wellington, this twenty-
fourth day of April, 1890.

Present:

THE HONOURABLE THE PREMIER PRESIDING IN COUNCIL.

WHEREAS by the two hundred and twenty-seventh
section of "The Licensing Act, 1881," (hereinafter
termed "the said Act"), it is enacted that if, through any
accidental or unavoidable impediment, misfeasance, or
omission, anything required by the said Act to be done is
omitted to be done, or is not done within the time fixed, the
Governor in Council may take all such measures as may be
necessary for removing such impediment or rectifying such
misfeasance or omission, and may validate anything which
may have been irregularly done in matter of form, so that
the intent and purpose of the said Act may have effect:
And whereas, owing to delay in the receipt of the letters
notifying that the first meeting of the Licensing Committee
for the District of Grey has been fixed and appointed to be
held at the Courthouse, at Greymouth, at noon, on Satur-
day, the twenty-ninth day of March last, such first meeting
could not be held at the time so fixed and appointed: And
whereas it is expedient to fix and appoint another time at
which such first meeting shall be held:
Now, therefore, His Excellency the Governor of the Colony
of New Zealand, in pursuance and exercise of the powers
conferred by the said Act, and of all other powers enabling
him in this behalf, and acting with the advice and consent
of the Executive Council of the said colony, doth hereby fix
and appoint Saturday, the seventh day of June next, at
noon, to be the time, and the Courthouse at Greymouth to
be the place, at which the first meeting of the said Licensing
Committee for the District of Grey shall be held.

Notification that Her Majesty has relinquished Negotiations
for the Acquisition of certain Blocks of Native Land.

ONSLOW, Governor.

IN pursuance of the provisions of "The Government Native
Land Purchases Act, 1877," and "The Government
Native Land Purchases Act Amendment Act, 1878," it is
hereby notified that Her Majesty the Queen has relinquished
negotiations in respect of the blocks of Native land in the
North Island which are more particularly described and men-
tioned in the Schedule hereto.

SCHEDULE.

OTAMAKAPUA No. 1.

Situated in the Ongo, Hautapu, and Aputi Survey Districts,
in the Provincial District of Wellington, known by the name
of Otamakapua No. 1, containing 8,952 acres, more or less,
being the whole of the land comprised in a memorial of
ownership issued by the Native Land Court, and entered in
Vol. ii., folio 32, of the Court rolls of the Wanganui District.

OTAMAKAPUA No. 2A.

Situated in the Ongo Survey District, in the Provincial
District of Wellington, known by the name of Otamakapua
No. 2A, containing 250 acres, more or less, being the whole
of the land comprised in the certificate of title Vol. liii.,
folio 91, of the Register-book of the Wellington Land
Transfer District.

As witness the hand of His Excellency the Governor,
this twenty-second day of April, one thousand
eight hundred and ninety.

EDWIN MITCHELSON.

Dissolving the Native Committee for the District of
Thames, and appointing a New Election to be held.

ONSLOW, Governor.

WHEREAS by subsection six of section seven of "The
Native Committees Act, 1883," it is provided that
the Governor may at any time, if he shall think fit, dissolve
any Committee, and appoint a new election to be held:
And whereas it is expedient to dissolve the existing Com-
mittee for the District of Thames, and that a new election
should be held:
Now, therefore, I, William Hillier, Earl of Onslow, the
Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, in exercise of the
power and authority vested in me in that behalf, do hereby
dissolve the Native Committee for the District of Thames,
and appoint a new election of a Committee for the said
district as follows:โ€”
The Returning Officer appointed to conduct the election
shall, in terms of section four of the said Act, publicly notify
on Monday, the twelfth day of May next, that nominations
will be received of Native persons to be members of the
Committee on Wednesday, the fourth day of June, at the
old Courthouse at Shortland.
George Thomas Wilkinson, Esquire, shall be the Return-
ing Officer to conduct the election in terms of the said Act.
As witness the hand of His Excellency the Governor,
this twenty-sixth day of April, one thousand
eight hundred and ninety.
