A PROCLAMATION.
WHEREAS the lands mentioned in the Schedule hereto are required to be taken, under “The Public Works Act, 1882,” and its amendments, for a certain public work, to wit, a road to Taiaroa Heads Lighthouse, in the County of Peninsula :
And whereas the Minister for Public Works has laid before the Governor the memorial, accompanied by a map, as required by the said Act and the amendments thereof :
Now, therefore, I, William Hillier, Earl of Onslow, the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, in exercise and pursuance of the powers and authorities in me vested by “The Public Works Act, 1882,” and of every other power and authority in anywise enabling me in that behalf, do hereby proclaim and declare that, from and after the date of the publication hereof in the New Zealand Gazette, the lands mentioned in the Schedule hereto are hereby taken for the purposes of the said road.

Given under the hand of His Excellency the Right Honourable William Hillier, Earl of Onslow, of Onslow in the County of Salop; Viscount Cranley, of Cranley in the County of Surrey; Baron Onslow, of Onslow in the County of Salop, and of West Clandon in the County of Surrey; Baron Cranley, of Imbercourt; Baronet; Knight Grand Cross of the Most Distinguished Order of Saint Michael and Saint George; Governor and Commander-in-Chief in and over Her Majesty’s Colony of New Zealand and its Dependencies, and Vice-Admiral of the same; and issued under the Seal of the said Colony, at Auckland, this eighteenth day of April, in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and ninety.

A PROCLAMATION.
BY virtue and in exercise of the powers and authorities vested in me by section thirty of “The Mining Act, 1886” (hereinafter termed “the said Act”), and of all other powers enabling me in this behalf, I, William Hillier, Earl of Onslow, the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, acting by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council of the said colony, do hereby proclaim and declare that all the provisions of the said Act relating to mining districts and to Wardens’ Courts shall have operation within the land described in the Schedule hereto.
SCHEDULE.
BAREWOOD RUN.
ALL that area in the County of Taieri, in the Provincial District of Otago, being portion of Barewood Run. Bounded towards the north-east generally by the Taieri River from an affluent of that river about 33 chains south of the confluence of the Nenthorn Stream with the said Taieri River to surveyor’s peg No. 28, bearing S. 59° 57′ 27″ E. from Trig. Station B, Nenthorn Survey District; thence towards the south-west by a line bearing N. 59° 57′ 27″ W. for a distance of 949 links; thence towards the south-east by a line bearing S. 42° 35′ W. for a distance of 1078·5 links; thence again towards the south-west by a line bearing N. 47° 27′ W. for a distance of 4850·7 links; thence by a line bearing N. 59° 57′ 27″ W. to Trig. Station B aforesaid; thence by a right line to Trig. Station A, Nenthorn Survey District; thence by a line bearing N. 19° W. for a distance of about 11400 links to the affluent of the Taieri River aforesaid, north of Nenthorn Camp; and thence towards the north-west by the said affluent to the Taieri River: excepting from the above-described area all lands required for the construction of the Otago Central Railway.
