Altering Boundaries of Resident Magistrates’ Districts of
Kaipara and Bay of Islands.

A PROCLAMATION.
WHEREAS by “The Resident Magistrates Act, 1867,”
it is enacted that it shall be lawful for the Governor
from time to time, by Proclamation in the New Zealand
Gazette, to constitute throughout the colony, or in any part
thereof, districts to be called Resident Magistrates’ districts,
and such districts from time to time to abolish, and the
boundaries to define and alter, and in any such Proclama-
tion to fix a time on and from which any such district shall
be constituted or abolished, as the case may be:
And whereas by Proclamation bearing date the tenth day
of February, one thousand eight hundred and ninety, His
Excellency the Governor, in pursuance and exercise of the
powers and authorities so vested in him, did define the
boundaries of the Resident Magistrates’ Districts of Kaipara
and Bay of Islands, as described in the said Proclamation:
And whereas it is expedient to alter the boundaries of the
said districts so defined as aforesaid:
Now, therefore, I, William Hillier, Earl of Onslow, the
Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, in pursuance and
exercise of the powers and authorities so vested in me as
aforesaid, do hereby alter the boundaries of the said Districts
of Kaipara and Bay of Islands respectively, and define them
as described in the Schedule hereto, as and from the twelfth
day of May next.

SCHEDULE.
KAIPARA.
ALL that area in the Provincial District of Auckland
bounded towards the north-west generally by the Bay of
Islands District hereinafter described; towards the east
generally by the sea; towards the south-east generally by
the Parish of Waiwera from the sea to the Waitoki Stream;
thence by that stream to Section No. 29, Parish of Kaukapa-
kapa, by that section and Sections Nos. 27, 52, 57, 58, 63,
65, and 66, Parish of Kaukapakapa aforesaid, Sections Nos.
307, 84, 83, 60, 308, 23, 24, 25, 26, 27, 28, 29, 39, 41, and 37,
Parish of Pukeatua, by the southern boundaries of Sections
Nos. 36 and 35, Parish of Pukeatua aforesaid, to the south-
western corner of the last-mentioned section; thence by a
right line to the north-eastern corner of Section No. 54,
Parish of Ararimu, by that section and Sections Nos. 55 and
60, said Parish of Ararimu, to the south-western corner of
the last-mentioned section; thence by a right line to the
western corner of Section No. 41, Parish of Paremoremo, by
that section, Section No. 40, and the north-eastern boundary-
line of Section No. 53 to the easternmost corner of that
section; thence by a right line to the easternmost corner of
Section No. 55, Parish of Paremoremo aforesaid, by the
Waitate Stream, the Rangitopuni River, the Waitemata
River, and Brigham’s Creek, and by the Parishes of Wai-
pareira and Waitakarei; and towards the south-west gene-
rally by the sea.
BAY OF ISLANDS.
All that area in the Provincial District of Auckland
bounded towards the north-east generally by the ocean;
towards the south-east generally by the County of Whanga-
rei from the ocean to the Kaimamaku River; thence by that
river and the Whakapara and Waiotu Rivers to the north-
eastern corner of Section No. 14, Block XV., Hukerenui
Survey District; thence by that section and Section No. 13,
and by Sections Nos. 1 and 2, Block XIV., Hukerenui Survey
District aforesaid, to the northernmost corner of the last-
mentioned section; thence by a right line to the northern-
most corner of Otakairangi Parish, by that parish and by
Block I., Purua Survey District, to the north-western corner
of that block; thence by a right line to the north-eastern
corner of Kauaeranga Block (No. 3672), by that block and
Pipiwai Block (No. 4311) to the Pipiwai Stream; thence by
that stream and the Wairere Stream to the northernmost
corner of Mangaroa Block (No. 4310); thence by a right line
to the south-eastern corner of Nukutawhiti Block (No. 281);
thence by the southern boundary-line of that block and that
boundary-line produced to the Mangakahia River; thence by
that river and the Opouteke River to its source; thence by
a right line to Whatoro Trig. Station; thence by a line
running due west to the north-western boundary-line of the
land reserved for the Kaihu Valley Railway; and thence by
that boundary-line and the Waikara Stream to the ocean;
and towards the south-west generally by the ocean.

Onslow in the County of Salop; Viscount Cranley,
of Cranley in the County of Surrey; Baron
Onslow, of Onslow in the County of Salop, and
of West Clandon in the County of Surrey; Baron
Cranley, of Imbercourt; Baronet; Knight Grand
Cross of the Most Distinguished Order of Saint
Michael and Saint George; Governor and Com-
mander-in-Chief in and over Her Majesty’s Colony
of New Zealand and its Dependencies, and Vice-
Admiral of the same; and issued under the Seal
of the said Colony, at Auckland, this twenty-
second day of April, in the year of our Lord one
thousand eight hundred and ninety.
