Proposed Alterations in Boundaries of Electoral Districts.
Wellington, 19th March, 1890.
THE Commissioners appointed under “The Representation Act, 1887,” hereby publish for general information, in terms of section 4 of the said Act, the following proposed alterations in the boundaries of electoral districts; and, further, give notice that written objections to the same will be received at the office of the Commission, in Wellington, up to and including the 21st April, 1890.
Maps of the proposed districts will be furnished to each local body in the colony, and large scale-plans of the proposed city and suburban electorates may be seen at the Chief Surveyors’ offices at Auckland, Wellington, Christchurch, Dunedin, Invercargill, Napier, and Nelson.

NORTH ISLAND ELECTORAL DISTRICTS.
Bay of Islands comprises the Counties of Mangonui, Whangaroa, Hokianga, Bay of Islands, and Hobson; together with that portion of Hikurangi Riding, of the County of Whangarei, situate north-west of the Wairua and the Kaimamaku Rivers.
Marsden comprises the County of Otamatea; the Ridings of Ngunguru, Manaia, Maunu, Mangapai, and Waipu, of the County of Whangarei; and that portion of Hikurangi Riding, of the same county, situate east of the Wairua and the Kaimamaku Rivers; together with the Ridings of Albert, Omaha, and Matakana, of the County of Rodney; also that portion of Tauhoa Riding, of the last-named county, which is bounded on the east by the Hoteo River; and that part of Hoteo Riding, of the County of Rodney, which is bounded on the east and west respectively by the Hoteo and the Waiwhiu Rivers. This district includes the Island of Kawau and the islands adjacent thereto, and the Town Districts of Whangarei and Kamo.
Waitemata comprises the Ridings of Mahurangi and Puhoi, of the County of Rodney; and those portions of the Ridings of Tauhoa and Hoteo, of the same county, which are situate south of the Hoteo River; also the Ridings of Helensville, Wainui, Kaukapakapa, Birkenhead, Northcote, and Takapuna, of the County of Waitemata; and so much of the Waitakerei Riding, of the latter county, as is situate to the north-east of the railway-line; together with the Boroughs of Devonport and Birkenhead. This electoral district includes also the Islands of Great and Little Barrier and Tiritiri, and Helensville Town District.
Eden comprises the Road Districts of Point Chevalier, Mount Albert, Avondale, Mount Roskill, and Mount Eden, all of the County of Eden; and that portion of the Epsom Road District, in the same county, which is south of a line commencing at the south-west corner of Allotment 40 of Section 6, Suburbs of Auckland, and proceeding northerly along the road fronting Sections 40, 41, 42, 23B, and 23A to Epsom-Onehunga Road; also a part of Eden Terrace Road District, bounded as follows: On the north-west and north-east respectively by the New North Road and the road along the south-west boundary of Allotment 2c of Section 5, Suburbs of Auckland; together with that portion of the County of Waitemata which is contained within Waikomiti Riding, and that part of Waitakerei Riding west of the railway-line.
Newton comprises the Borough of Newton; the Arch Hill Road District, in the County of Eden; and that portion of Ponsonby Ward, of the City of Auckland, which is situate south-west of Ponsonby Road and Curran Street; together with that portion of Eden Terrace Road District north of the New North Road and of the road forming the south-west boundary of Allotment 2c of Section 5, Suburbs of Auckland.
City of Auckland comprises the whole of the area included within the city boundaries, excepting that piece of Ponsonby Ward to the south-west of Ponsonby Road and Curran Street from the junction of Franklin Street with Ponsonby Road, as far as Waitemata Harbour.
Parnell comprises the Boroughs of Parnell and Newmarket; the Remuera Road District, of the County of Eden; and the portion of Epsom Road District, of the same county, which is north of a line commencing at the south-west corner of Allotment 40 of Section 6, Suburbs of Auckland, and continuing northerly along the road fronting Sections 40, 41, 42, 23B, and 23A to Epsom-Onehunga Road; also that part of One-Tree Hill Road District north of Green Lane and its continuation to the Epsom-Onehunga Road. The Auckland Domain is included within this electoral district.
Manukau comprises the Road Districts of Mount Wellington, Tamaki West, and Panmure, of the County of Eden; and the portion of One-Tree Hill Road District, in the same county, which is situate south of Green Lane; together with the Ridings of Otahuhu and Howick, of the County of Manukau; and the Borough of Onehunga. This electoral district includes also the Islands of Rangitoto, Motutapu, Waiheke, Ponui, Tara-taroa, Brown’s, Chamberlin’s, Rakino, Bean Rock, and adjacent islands.
Franklin comprises the whole of the County of Manukau, excepting the Ridings of Otahuhu and Howick; together with the islands in the Waikato River. Papakura Town District is within this electoral district.
Thames comprises the County of Coromandel and the Borough of Thames; and a portion of Hastings Riding, of the
