SIR, - The distribution of awards at the Paris Exhibition
took place on the 29th September, with much ceremony, in
the presence of the President of the Republic, the Ministers,
the official staff of the Exhibition, and many thousands of
exhibitors and guests of the Republic.

The awards given to New Zealand amount to 66, com-
prising 3 grands prix, 10 gold medals, 23 silver medals, 16
bronze medals, and 14 honourable mentions. It is not, how-
ever, the intention of the French Government to give any
actual medals, but only certificates or diplomas representing
them.

I beg to enclose a classified statement denoting the groups
and classes of the New Zealand awards. The following may
perhaps be found a convenient summary of these awards:-
