land, by and with the advice and consent of the Execu-
tive Council thereof, doth hereby revoke a certain Order in
Council, dated the nineteenth day of February, one thousand
eight hundred and eighty-four, making delegation of certain
powers in manner as therein appears; and doth, with the
like advice and consent, by this present order, delegate, but
only with respect to the pieces or parcels of land described in
the Schedule hereto, all the powers conferred by the Act
aforesaid, except the powers under or conferred by sections
five and twelve thereof, to the under-mentioned persons, who
shall be known as the Gore Public Domain Board, namely,β€”
MILES REGINALD BREE,
FRANK STEPHEN CANNING,
JAMES BEATTIE,
JOHN NICOLSON,
WILLIAM HENDERSON, and
ALFRED GODBY

(hereinafter referred to as "the Board"), subject to the
stipulations hereinafter contained, that is to say,β€”

  1. The Board shall meet for the transaction of business on
    the second Monday in each month, at half-past seven
    o'clock p.m., at the Railway Hotel, Gore, or at such other
    time or place as may from time to time be fixed by the
    Board. The first meeting shall be held on Monday, the
    ninth day of December, one thousand eight hundred and
    eighty-nine.

  2. Special meetings may be convened by the Chairman or
    by any two members of the Board, provided that two days'
    notice of such meeting be given to each member, specifying
    the business to be transacted at such special meeting, and
    no other business than that so specified shall be transacted
    at such meeting.

  3. Any three of the said Board shall form a quorum. Any
    meeting may be adjourned from time to time.

  4. The members of the Board shall, at their first meeting,
    and thereafter at an annual meeting to be held on the second
    Monday in January in every succeeding year thereafter,
    elect one of themselves to be Chairman, who may join in the
    discussion, and shall have an original as well as a casting
    vote. The Chairman shall hold office until the election of
    his successor.

  5. If at any meeting the Chairman is not present at the
    time appointed for holding the same, the members present
    shall choose some one of their number to be Chairman of
    such meeting.

  6. If, by resignation, death, or incapacity, or otherwise,
    the office of Chairman shall be or become vacant, the mem-
    bers may at any monthly or special meeting appoint a
    Chairman.

  7. All questions shall be determined by the majority of
    votes of the members of the Board present at a meeting.

SCHEDULE.

ALL that parcel of land in the Land District of Southland,
containing 12 acres 1 rood 20 perches, more or less, being
block marked reserve for public gardens on the map of the
Town of Gore. Bounded on the north by Surrey Street, 565
links; towards the west by Richmond Street, 981.5 and
1972.7 links; towards the south-west by Norfolk Street, 365
links; and towards the east by a road reserve, 100 links wide,
along the bank of the Mataura River.

Also all that parcel of land in the Land District of South-
land, containing by admeasurement 2 acres 1 rood 3 perches,
more or less, situate in the Town of Gore, being that portion
of the Town Belt marked A on the Crown-grant record map
of the said town; bounded on the north by Preston Street,
885 links; towards the east by main road, 255 links; on the
south by Lyne Street, 933 links; and on the west by Fair-
field Street, 250 links. Also all that parcel of land contain-
ing by admeasurement 5 acres and 26 perches, more or less,
situate in the said Town of Gore, being that portion of said
Town Belt marked B on the said map; bounded on the north
by Preston Street, 356 links; on the east by Fairfield Street,
1450 links; on the south by Irwell Street, 356 links; and on
the west by Broughton Street, 1450 links. Also all that
parcel of land containing by admeasurement 3 acres 3 roods
26 perches, more or less, situate in the said Town of Gore,
being that portion of said Town Belt marked C on the said
map; bounded on the north by Irwell Street, 356 links; on
the east by Fairfield Street, 1100 links; on the south by Irk
Street, 356 links; and on the west by Broughton Street,
1100 links. Also all that parcel of land containing 3 acres
3 roods 26 perches, more or less, situate in the said Town of
Gore, being the portion of the said Town Belt marked D on
the said map; bounded on the north by Irk Street, 356 links;
on the east by Fairfield Street, 1100 links; on the south by
Ashton Street, 356 links; and on the west by Broughton
Street, 1100 links. Also all that parcel of land containing
by admeasurement 4 acres 1 rood 9 perches, more or less,
situate in the said Town of Gore, being that portion of the
said Town of Gore marked E on the said map; bounded on
the north by Ashton Street, 356 links; on the east by Fair-
field Street, 883 links; towards the south-east by the main
road, 746 links; and on the west by Broughton Street, 1539
links. Also all that parcel of land containing by admeasure-
ment 5 acres 1 rood 2 perches, more or less, situate in the
said Town of Gore, being that portion of said Town Belt
marked F on the said map; bounded on the north by Old-
ham Street, 917 links; on the east by Gorton Street, 505
links; on the south by Hyde Street, 1191 links; and towards
the north-west by the Railway Reserve, 574.7 links. And
also all that parcel of land containing 5 acres 3 roods, more
or less, situate in the said Town of Gore, being that portion
of said Town Belt marked G on the said map; bounded on
the north by Oldham Street, 1039 links; on the north-east
by the public road running along the bank of the Mataura
River, 542.4 links; on the south by Hyde Street, 1237 links;
and on the west by Gorton Street, 505 links.

Vesting Reserves in the Akaroa County Council.

ORDER IN COUNCIL.

At the Government Buildings, at Wellington, this twentieth
day of November, 1889.

Present:
THE HONOURABLE E. MITCHELSON PRESIDING IN COUNCIL.

W
HEREAS the lands mentioned in the Schedule hereto
were reserved for gravel-pits: And whereas it is
expedient that the said lands should be vested in the Akaroa
County Council:

Now, therefore, His Excellency the Governor of the Colony
of New Zealand, by and with the advice and consent of the
Executive Council of the said colony, and in exercise of the
powers and authorities vested in him by the fourth section of
"The Public Reserves Act, 1881," doth hereby declare that,
from and after the day of the date hereof, the reserves men-
tioned in the Schedule hereto shall become vested in the
Chairman, Councillors, and inhabitants of the Akaroa County,
in trust, for gravel pits.

SCHEDULE.

RESERVE No. 1258 (in red), containing 10 acres, more or less;
Reserve No. 1735 (in red), containing 10 acres, more or less.

Rates of Postage, &c., for Places beyond New Zealand.

ORDER IN COUNCIL.

At the Government Buildings, at Wellington, this twentieth
day of November, 1889.

Present:
THE HONOURABLE E. MITCHELSON PRESIDING IN COUNCIL.

IN pursuance and exercise of the power and authority vested
Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, acting by and with
said colony, doth hereby abolish the rates of postage fixed by
thousand eight hundred and eighty-nine, to be paid within the
colony for the transmission of letters, newspapers, and
packets to places beyond seas, and in lieu thereof doth order and
colony for the transmission of all letters, newspapers, and
packets by post to the several places beyond seas respectively
mentioned in the Schedule hereto shall be those specified in the
Schedule hereto, and that such rates of postage shall in all
cases be paid at the time such letters, newspapers, and packets
are delivered into the Post Office; and, with the like advice
and consent as aforesaid, doth further order and declare that this
order shall take effect on and after the first day of
December, one thousand eight hundred and eighty-nine.
