Notice of Intention to take Land for Roads in connection
with the Railway from Kaukapakapa Northwards: Por-
tion of Kaukapakapa Section.

NOTICE is hereby given that it it is proposed, under the pro-
visions of "The Public Works Act, 1882," to execute a
certain public work, to wit, the construction of roads in
connection with the railway from Kaukapakapa north-
wards, portion of Kaukapakapa Section, and for the purposes
of such public work the lands described in the Schedule
hereto are required to be taken; and notice is further
given that the plans of the said roads and of the lands so
required to be taken are deposited in the post office, at
Kaukapakapa, and are there open for inspection. And
notice is hereby given that all persons affected by the
execution of the said public work or by the taking of the
said lands shall, if they have any well-grounded objections
to the execution of the said public work or to the taking
of such lands, set forth the same in writing, and send such
writing, within forty days from the first publication of this
notice, to the Minister for Public Works, Wellington.

the existing polling places in the Waipa Electoral
District, and to appoint the under-mentioned places to be
polling-places under "The Regulation of Elections Act,
1881," for the said Electoral District of Waipa :-

Wairarapa North.

THE following special orders, made by the Eketahuna
Road Board, are published for general information.

SPECIAL ORDERS.

  1. THAT, for the purpose of securing payment of the sum
    of £3,500, borrowed by the Board under "The Government
    Loans to Local Bodies Act, 1886," for the purpose of road-
    formation in Wellington No. 1 Block, a special rate of
    fivepence and three-fifths of a penny in the pound be made
    and levied on all the rateable properties in the rural portion
    of the Wellington Special-settlement Block No. 1. Such
    special rate shall be an annually-recurring rate, and shall be
    paid in two half-yearly instalments for twenty-six years, on
    the 1st day of February and the 1st day of August in each
    year, until the debt is liquidated.

  2. That, for the purpose of securing payment of the sum of
    £750, borrowed by the Board under "The Government Loans
    to Local Bodies Act, 1886," for the purpose of formation,
    metalling, and bridges on the Mangaone and Tawaitai Roads,
    a special rate of one penny and seven-eighths of a penny in
    the pound be made and levied on the following sections:
    12, 13, 20, 21, 22, 23, 31, 34, Block III.; 31A, Block IV.;
    12, 14, 15, 16, 33, 34, Block VI.; 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 7, 8, 9, 11, 14,
    17, 20, 32, Block VII., all in the Mangaone Survey District.
    Such special rate shall be an annually-recurring rate, and
    shall be paid in two half-yearly instalments for twenty-six
    years, on the 1st day of February and the 1st day of August
    each year, until the debt is liquidated.

  3. That, for the purpose of securing payment of the sum of
    £250, borrowed by the Board under "The Government Loans
    to Local Bodies Act, 1886," for the purpose of formation and
    metalling on the Eketahuna--Parkville Road, a special rate
    of threepence halfpenny in the pound be made and levied
    on Subsections 1 to 31 (inclusive) of Section 24, Eketahuna
    Township. Such special rate shall be an annually-recurring
    rate, and shall be paid in two half-yearly instalments for
    twenty-six years, on the 1st day of February and the 1st day
    of August in each year, until the debt is liquidated.

I hereby certify that the above special orders were duly
made and passed by the Eketahuna Road Board, at a meeting
held on the 19th October, 1889, and to the best of my know-
ledge and belief all the provisions of the Acts now in force
relating to the subject have been complied with.
