Tenders for Cartage of Goods and Parcels.

Railway Department (Head Office), Wellington, 23rd October, 1889.
THE following tenders for cartage of goods and parcels between the Christchurch Railway-station and the City of Christ-
church, Dunedin Railway-station and the City of Dunedin, Invercargill Railway-station and the Town of Invercargill,
for three years, terminating on the 31st December, 1892, are published for general information.

Alterations and Additions to the Scale of Fares, Rates, and
Charges in force on the New Zealand Railways.

THE New Zealand Railway Commissioners, in exercise
and pursuance of the powers conferred by "The
Government Railways Act, 1887," do hereby make the
following alterations in and additions to the scale of fares,
rates, and charges on the New Zealand Railways, to come
into force on and after the 24th day of October, 1889:—

PART IV.—LOCAL RATES.

AUCKLAND SECTION.

Class K.
Timber consigned from Kanohi or Kaukapakapa to Mount
Eden or Auckland will be charged 1s. 9d. per 100 super-
ficial feet.

NELSON SECTION.

Class H.
Wool, undumped, consigned from Belgrove to Nelson or
Port will be charged 2s. per bale.

MASTERTON BOROUGH COUNCIL.

NOTICE OF INTENTION TO TAKE LAND FOR ROADS.

NOTICE is hereby given that the Council of the Borough
of Masterton proposes, under the provisions of "The
Public Works Act, 1882," to execute certain public works, to
wit, the construction of public roads through the reserve
belonging to the Anglican Bishop of New Zealand, situate in
the Borough of Masterton, and in the Survey District of
Tiffin, being portion of Section No. 110, Block IV. (being,
firstly, a road connecting Villa Street with the Ngaumatawa
Block; secondly, part of a road connecting Akura Road
with Railway Road; and, thirdly, a road connecting Akura
Road with Ngaumatawa Block): and for the purpose of
such public works to take, under the provisions of the said
Act, the lands mentioned in the Schedule hereto. And
notice is further given that a plan of the said roads or works
and of the lands so required to be taken, prepared by P. C.
Frasi, authorised surveyor, is deposited in the office of the
said Borough Council, situate in Chapel Street, in the said
borough, and is there open for inspection. And notice is
hereby given that all persons affected by the execution of
the said public works or by the taking of the said lands
shall, if they have any well-grounded objections to the
execution of the said public works or to the taking of such
lands, set forth the same in writing, and send such writing,
within forty days from the first publication of this notice, to
the said Borough Council, at the said office.
