MANGAONE RIVER BOARD.—RESULT OF POLL.

It is hereby notified that the poll taken on the 29th May, on
the proposal to borrow £700 for the purpose of improving the
Whiskey Creek outlet, resulted as follows:—
Number of ratepayers entitled to vote, 12; number of rate-
payers voting in favour of proposal, 11; number of ratepayers
not voting, 1; majority in favour, 10. Number of votes that
could be exercised, 25; votes recorded in favour of proposal,
24; vote not recorded, 1; majority in favour, 23.

I hereby declare the proposal carried.

GERALDINE COUNTY COUNCIL.—RESULT OF POLL.

RESULT of poll on a proposal of the Geraldine County
Council to borrow the sum of £2,500 from the Government
for the purpose of a water-supply for the Waitohi Flat Water-
supply District, taken at Waitohi Flat, on Monday, the 12th
day of August, 1889:—
Number of ratepayers who voted 39, out of a possible 48;
number of votes recorded 82, out of a possible 101. Number
of votes for the proposal, 50; number of votes against the
proposal, 30; informal, 2: 82.
As a majority of the number of ratepayers voted in favour
of the proposal, and the number so voting were not entitled
to more than one-half the number of votes that can be exer-
cised by the whole number of ratepayers, I do hereby declare
the proposal lost.

MANAWATU ROAD BOARD.—RESULT OF POLL.

IT is hereby notified that a poll taken on the 30th July, on a
proposal to borrow £500 for the continuation of the Middle
Aorangi Road, resulted as follows:—
Number of ratepayers entitled to vote, 3; number of votes
that could be recorded, 6. Ratepayers voting for the pro-
pasal, 3; votes recorded in favour of the proposal, 6.

As a majority in number of the ratepayers entitled to vote
have voted in favour of the proposal, and the number so
voting were entitled to more than half the number of votes
that could be exercised, I hereby declare the proposal carried.

THE following special order, made by the Manawatu
Road Board, is published in accordance with "The
Road Boards Act, 1882."

SPECIAL ORDER.

THAT, to provide for the interest and other annual charges on
a loan of £98 10s., being an additional 10 per cent. on the
original loan of £985 for works on Roberts, Kelvin Grove,
and Bunnythorpe-Palmerston Railway-line Roads, the pre-
sent special rate of seven-eighths of a penny in the pound
be increased to fifteen-sixteenths of a penny in the pound
on the rateable value of the following properties: Sections
3, 4, 60 to 71, 419, 509 to 515, 520 to 527, 1467 to 1510, 1527
to 1535, Bunnythorpe and Palmerston North, all inclusive.
And, further, that, to provide for the payment of interest and
other annual charges on a loan of £15, being an additional
10 per cent. on the original loan of £150, for work on James's
line, the present special rate of five-eighths of a penny in
the pound be increased to eleven-sixteenths of a penny in
the pound on the rateable value of the following properties:
Parts 8, 9, 48 to 59 of Sections 415 and 416, Palmerston
North, all inclusive. The additional portion of each of these
rates to be an annually-recurring rate for a period of twenty-
six years, and payable in two instalments on the first day of
May and the first day of November respectively in each
year.

I hereby certify that the foregoing special order was duly
passed by the Manawatu Road Board, at a meeting held on
the 12th August, 1889.

RESULT OF POLL FOR PROPOSED LOAN FOR WIDENING MAIN
ROAD THROUGH EKETAHUNA.

RESULT of poll taken at Eketahuna, on the 8th day of
August, 1889, upon a proposal to raise a loan of £500, under
"The Local Bodies' Loans Act, 1886," for the purpose of
widening the metalled portion of the main road through
Eketahuna, fronting Subsections 5 to 22 of Section 13,
Block VI., Mangaone :—
Number of ratepayers on special roll 24, representing 26
votes. Number of ratepayers who voted for the proposal 13,
representing 15 votes; number of ratepayers who voted
against the proposal, nil.

As a majority of the ratepayers, representing more than
one-half of the total number of votes which could be exer-
cised, voted in favour of the proposal, I declare the same
to be carried.

A PETITION having been presented to His Excellency
the Governor, praying that the district described in the
Schedule hereto might be incorporated in the Borough of
Sydenham, His Excellency directs it to be notified that,
unless within two months from the publication hereof a
petition or petitions, as required by section 32 of "The
Municipal Corporations Act, 1886," is or are presented to
His Excellency, he will proceed to incorporate the said dis-
trict into the Borough of Sydenham.

RESULT OF POLL FOR PROPOSED LOAN FOR RENEWING
BRIDGE OVER WANGAEHU STREAM.

RESULT of poll taken at the Wangaehu Schoolroom, on the
10th day of August, 1889, upon a proposal to raise a loan of
£600, under "The Local Bodies' Loans Act, 1886," for the
purpose of renewing the bridge over the Wangaehu Stream,
on the Te Oreore-Bideford Road :—
Number of ratepayers on special roll 54, representing 103
votes. Number of ratepayers who voted for the proposal 5,
representing 19 votes; number of ratepayers who voted
against the proposal, nil.

As less than a majority of the ratepayers recorded their
votes in favour of the proposal, I declare the same to be
rejected.

ALL that area in the Provincial District of Canterbury,
situate in the Christchurch Survey District, bounded towards
the north and north-east generally by the Borough of Syden-
ham, as described in the New Zealand Gazette No. 79,
September 20, 1877, from the Lower Lincoln Road to Colombo
Road; thence towards the east by the said Colombo Road to
the River Heathcote; thence towards the south-east by that
river to a point in line with the north-eastern boundary-line
of Rural Section No. 98; thence by a right line to the
easternmost corner of that section; thence towards the
south-west and again towards the south-east by Section
No. 98 aforesaid to Wilderness Road; thence again towards
towards the north-west by the Lower Lincoln Road to the
Borough of Sydenham aforesaid.
