HIS Excellency the Governor has been pleased to ap-
prove of the disbandment of the under-mentioned
corps :-
Thames Rifle Rangers Volunteers.
Gordon Rifle Volunteers.
Date of disbandment, 19th January, 1889.
The under-mentioned gentlemen, therefore, cease to be
officers in the Volunteer Force, in accordance with the pro-
visions of "The Defence Act, 1886:"-
Lieutenant William Henry Lucas, Thames Rangers.
Honorary Surgeon Patrick Callan, Thames Rangers.
Honorary Chaplain Rev. Frank George Evans, Thames
Rangers.
Captain William Bagnall White, Gordon Rifles.

with "The Local Bodies' Loans Act, 1886."

NOTICE is hereby given that a poll of ratepayers within the
special areas has been taken on the proposal to borrow the
under-mentioned sums for the works hereunder described,
with the following result:-
£1,200 for completing the Mountain Road, in Ngaire
Riding:-
Number on roll, 39. Votes for, 23; votes against, 3;
informal, 1.
£300 for widening and extending Stratford-Opunake Road,
in Ngaire Riding :--
Number on roll, 18. Votes for, 11; votes against, nil.
£1,300 for constructing and macadamising the Stratford-
Opunake Road, in Waimate Riding, in continuation of road
already metalled to the Hastings Road:-
Number on roll, 23. Votes for, 15; votes against, nil;
informal, 2.
I therefore declare the above resolutions to be carried, as
more than half of the ratepayers on the roll have voted
therefor.
