in Her Majesty's Army, Knight Grand Cross of
the Most Distinguished Order of Saint Michael
and Saint George, Companion of the Most
Honourable Order of the Bath, Governor and
Commander-in-Chief in and over Her Majesty's
Colony of New Zealand and its Dependencies,
and Vice-Admiral of the same; and issued under
the Seal of the said Colony, at the Government
House, at Wellington, this twenty-fourth day of

1887," assented to by Her Majesty in Council.

A PROCLAMATION.

WHEREAS by an Act passed in the session of Parlia-
ment held in the fifteenth and sixteenth years of
Her Majesty's reign, entitled "An Act to grant a Represen-
tative Constitution to the Colony of New Zealand," it is,
amongst other things, enacted that no Bill which shall be
reserved for the signification of Her Majesty's pleasure
thereon shall have any force or authority within the Colony
of New Zealand until the Governor of the said colony shall
signify, by speech or message to the Legislative Council and
House of Representatives of the said colony, or by Procla-
mation, that such Bill has been laid before Her Majesty in
Council, and that Her Majesty has been pleased to assent to
the same:

And whereas a certain Bill passed by the Legislative
Council and House of Representatives of the said colony,
entitled "An Act to amend the Governor's Salary and Allow-
ances Act, 1873," was presented to the Governor of the said
colony for Her Majesty's assent, and the said Bill was re-
served for the signification of Her Majesty's pleasure
thereon:

Now, therefore, I, William Francis Drummond Jervois,
the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, in pursuance of
the provisions of the said in part recited Act, do, by this
Proclamation, signify and proclaim to all to whom it may
concern that the said Bill has been laid before Her Majesty
in Council, and that Her Majesty has been pleased to assent
to the same.

Defining the Middle Line of Further Portion of the Line
of Railway from Westport to the Ngakawau River.

A PROCLAMATION.

WHEREAS the line of railway from Westport to the
Ngakawau River is one of the railways specified in
the First Schedule to "The Public Works Act, 1879," and
which Act is, in the seventh section thereof, declared to be
a special Act authorising the construction of such railway;
and such railway is unfinished, and it has been determined to
construct and maintain a further portion of the same:

Now, therefore, I, William Francis Drummond Jervois,
the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, in exercise and
pursuance of the powers and authorities conferred on me by
the aforesaid section seven of "The Public Works Act,
1879," and by sections one hundred and twenty-nine and
one hundred and thirty of "The Public Works Act, 1882,"
and in exercise of every other power and authority in any-
wise enabling me in that behalf, do hereby proclaim and
declare that the middle line of the said further portion
of the said railway shall be as defined and set forth in the
Schedule hereto.

SCHEDULE.

COMMENCING at a point on the Westport-Ngakawau Railway,
the said point being the termination of the railway as de-
scribed in a Proclamation dated the 29th February, 1876,
and published in the New Zealand Gazette No. 13, of the
9th March, 1876; proceeding thence generally in a north-
easterly direction for a distance of about 374 chains, and
passing in, into, through, or over the following lands, viz.:
Railway Reserve, Sections 3 and 1, Ngakawau Survey Dis-
trict, and terminating at a point bearing about 252Β° 45' from
the easternmost corner of Section 1, and distant therefrom
about 490 links; including all intervening places, roads,
rivers, streams, and watercourses; all in the Provincial
District of Nelson; in the manner delineated on the plan
marked P.W.D. 16123, a copy of which is deposited in the
office of the Registrar of the Supreme Court, at Nelson, in
the Provincial District of Nelson; the total length being
about 374 chains.

A PROCLAMATION.

WHEREAS it has been found desirable, for the use, con-
venience, and enjoyment of the Waitaki-Bluff Rail-
way, to take further land between Benhar and Stirling
Railway-stations, in addition to land previously acquired for
the purposes of the said railway:

Now, therefore, I, William Francis Drummond Jervois,
the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, in exercise of
the powers and authorities conferred on me by "The Public
Works Act, 1882," and of every other power and authority
in anywise enabling me in that behalf, do hereby proclaim
and declare that the land mentioned in the Schedule hereto
is taken for the purposes above mentioned.
