of July, 1889, on the proposal to raise a loan of Β£2,000, under
the provisions of "The Local Bodies' Loans Act, 1886," for
the purpose of forming and metalling the Mangaone Valley
Road, and constructing bridges and culverts on the said
road:-

THE following is the result of a poll, taken on the 12th day
of July, 1889, on the proposal to raise a loan of Β£3,000, under
the provisions of "The Local Bodies' Loans Act, 1886," for
the purpose of forming and metalling the Tiraumea Valley,
NO. 3807.-JOSEPH HARGREAVES, of Ipswich, Queensland,
Importer, has deposited at this office a specification
the Ridge, and Te Aupapa Roads:-
of an invention for an improved sanitary closet or privy.
Number of ratepayers on roll 49, representing 50 votes.
Number of ratepayers who voted for the proposal 29, repre-
senting 29 votes; number of votes not recorded, 21.
No. 3808.-ROBERT POWLES, of Amuri, Nelson, New Zea-
land, Fencer, has deposited at this office a specification of
an invention for a rabbit-trap, to be called "Powles's Rabbit-
trap for Runs or Enclosures."
A majority of the ratepayers, exercising more than one-
half the number of votes, being in favour of the proposal, I
therefore declare it to be carried.
No. 3809.-GEORGE KNOWLES, of No. 70, King Street,
Melbourne, Victoria, Merchant, has deposited at this office a
specification of an invention for an improved cap or ventilator
for curing smoky chimneys, and for other ventilating pur-
poses.

No. 3811.-WILLIAM DUNN, of Hamburg Villa, Hobson
Street, Auckland, New Zealand, Billiard Saloon keeper, has
deposited at this office a specification of an invention to be
called "The Mackay Puzzle of Puzzles."

land, Mechanical Engineer, has deposited at this office a
specification of an invention for joining rubber tyres, to be
called "The Invisible Tyre Union."

Board, is published in accordance with "The Road
Boards Act, 1882."

next, at 11 o'clock in the forenoon, at this office, to hear the
said applications and all objections thereto; and I require all
persons having an interest in opposing the grant of any such
Letters Patent to leave, on or before the 23rd day of Sep-
tember next, at this office, particulars in writing of their
objections to any of the said applications, otherwise they
will be precluded from urging the same.
SPECIAL ORDER.
THAT, notwithstanding the provisions of "The Regulation
of Local Elections Act, 1876," all elections of members of
the Board shall be conducted in the manner provided by
section 49 of "The Road Boards Act, 1882."
