NOTICE OF INTENTION TO CONSTRUCT A WATER-
RACE.
Maerewhenua, 17th June, 1889.
To the Warden at Livingstone, Maerewhenua.
WE hereby give notice that we intend to construct a
Water-race to divert and use water for mining
purposes, commencing at a point in the Otekaike Creek,
Run 17, about one and a half miles above sheep-yards and
about seven miles above the Forks, and terminating at a
point in Campbell and Simpson's Race, No. 4804, in
Section 21, Block X, Maerewhenua, half a mile below the
head, in a fluming across Sheepwash Creek. Sheepwash
Spur to be tunnelled. Taking drainage from Hamill's
Creek, Ben Lomond Gully, west side, and a gully about
a mile and a half above Ben Lomond Gully, a gully about
two miles below the Forks, a gully one mile below the
Forks, a gully 300 yards above the Forks, and a gully two
miles below head of race.
The length of such race is about twenty-two miles or
thereabouts, and its intended course is east and west.
The mean depth of such race is 1ft. 8in., and the mean
breadth is 2ft. 6in., and it is proposed to divert six Govern-
ment-heads of water.
Cost of construction, £7,000.
Time required for construction, three years.
