NO. 3779. STEPHEN HENRY MANNERS, of 14, Molesworth
Street, North Melbourne, Victoria, Blacksmith, has
deposited at this office a specification of an invention for a
new or improved double-acting spring swingle-tree.

No. 3780.-EDWARD JAQUES and WALLACE JAQUES, both
of Coppin Street, Richmond, Victoria, Engineers, have de-
posited at this office a specification of an invention for im-
provements in stone-breaking machines.

And I have appointed Friday, the 28th day of March
next, at 11 o'clock in the forenoon, at this office, to hear
the said applications and all objections thereto; and I
require all persons having an interest in opposing the grant
of any such Letters Patent to leave, on or before the 13th day
of March next, at this office, particulars in writing of their
objections to any of the said applications, otherwise they
will be precluded from urging the same.

and passengers ashore from shipwreck, to be known as
"Taylor's Universal Lifeboat."

No. 3776. GEORGE JAMES ADDISON RICHARDSON, of In-
vercargill, New Zealand, Mining Agent, has deposited at
this office a specification of an invention for an automatic
fire-screen or guard and dumb-waiter combined,

No. 3777.-CHARLES JOSEPH VAN DEPOELE, of 57, Center
Street, Lynn, Essex, Massachussetts, United States of
America, Electrician, has deposited at this office a specifi-
cation of an invention for improvements in carbon contact
or commutator brushes for use with dynamo-electric gene-
rators and electro-dynamic motors.

No. 3778.-JEREMIAH MCCARTHY, of Craycroft Street,
Arch Hill, Auckland, New Zealand, Grocer, has deposited at
this office a specification of an invention for attaching
buttons, to be called "The Self-attaching Button."

No. 3781.-JAMES COLE and ALEXANDER DODSWORTH, of
Wellington, New Zealand, Cabinetmakers, have deposited at
this office a specification of an invention for an improved
fire-escape ladder.

And I have appointed Tuesday, the 17th day of September
next, at 11 o'clock in the forenoon, at this office, to hear the
said applications and all objections thereto; and I require all

field, Wellington, New Zealand, Blacksmith, has deposited
at this office a specification of an invention for a wool-press,
to be called "Wilhelm's Patent Cog-wheel Wool-press."

And I have appointed Thursday, the 19th day of Septem-
ber next, at 11 o'clock in the forenoon, at this office, to hear
the said applications and all objections thereto; and I require

IN the matter of a decision of the Court given at Maketu,
on the 4th day of May, 1888, upon hearing a
claim for the partition of land known as Paengaroa North
A No. 3; and in the matter of an application by Retireti
Tapihana and others for a rehearing upon such claim:

Upon inquiry in open Court as to the said application for
rehearing, held at Maketu on the 19th and 20th days of June,
1889, by the Chief Judge, assisted by Karaka Tarawhiti, an
Assessor of the Court:

I, Hugh Garden Seth Smith, Chief Judge of the said Court,
in exercise of the authority in that behalf vested in me,
do hereby dismiss such application.

Dated at Maketu, this 20th day of June, 1889.
