No. 3761. -FREDERICK WILLIAM TUCKER, of Sawyer's Bay,
Otago, New Zealand, Dairy-produce Expert, has deposited
at this office a specification of an invention for machinery
for stirring fluids, especially applicable in cheese-factories
for stirring the curd while in the whey, also for condensed
milk- and jam-making.
And I have appointed Thursday, the 5th day of Septem-
ber next, at 11 o'clock in the forenoon, at this office, to hear
the said application and all objections thereto; and I require
all persons having an interest in opposing the grant of any
such Letters Patent to leave, on or before the 21st day of
August next, at this office, particulars in writing of their
objections to any of the said applications, otherwise they will
be precluded from urging the same.

cation of an invention for an improved arrangement of sluice-
boxes for gold-saving.
No. 3763. - GEORGE MCBRIDE, of Auckland, New Zealand,
Tailor, has deposited at this office a specification of an
invention for waterproofing textile fabrics, to be called
"McBride's Patent Hygienic Waterproofing."
No. 3764. - DAVID DUNN, of Lincoln, Canterbury, New
Zealand, Mechanic, has deposited at this office a specifica-
tion of an invention for an improved apparatus for loading
sacks on drays, trucks, or wagons, or for raising sacks to any
required height, to be called "Dunn's Eclipse Sack-loader."
No. 3765. - DONALD DENNES, Mechanical Engineer, and
TOM KIRKE ROSE, Assayer, of Denver, Arapahoe, Colorado,
United States of America, have deposited at this office a
specification of an invention for an improved method of
leaching ores, namely, by air-pressure.
No. 3766. - ALFRED HARRALL FLORANCE, of Millthorpe,
New South Wales, Medical Practitioner and Chemist, has
deposited at this office a specification of an invention for the
coating of iron and steel with copper, and known as
"Florance's Flux for the Coating of Iron and Steel with
Copper."
No. 3767. - JOHN WATT, of Gore, Otago, New Zealand, Gas
Engineer, has deposited at this office a specification of an
invention for manufacturing gas, termed "Watt's Patent
Hydro-carbon- or Water-gas."
And I have appointed Tuesday, the 10th day of September
next, at 11 o'clock in the forenoon, at this office, to hear the
said applications and all objections thereto; and I require

tion of an invention for improvements in and relating to the
extraction of gold and silver from refractory and other ores,
and in apparatus employed therein.
No. 3770. - NIELS GEORG SÖRENSEN, of Stockholm, Swe-
den, Merchant, has deposited at this office a specification of
an invention for improvements in door- and other locks.
No. 3771. - LEON RIESER, of 76, King William Street,
Fitzroy, Melbourne, Victoria, Architect, has deposited at this
office a specification of an invention for improvements in
apparatus for drying or seasoning timber.
No. 3772. - LUCIUS O'BRIEN, of Sydney, New South Wales
Gentleman, has deposited at this office a specification of an
invention for a new or improved process for making metallic
sulphates in solution.
No. 3773. - JOHN DONALDSON, of Walpole Street, Kew,
near Melbourne, Victoria, Manager of a Life Assurance
Society, has deposited at this office a specification of an
invention for an improved automatic attachment for indi-
cating pressures and levels of fluids and liquids in vessels.
And I have appointed Thursday, the 12th day of September
next, at 11 o'clock in the forenoon, at this office, to hear the
said applications and all objections thereto; and I require all
persons having an interest in opposing the grant of any such

next, at this office, particulars in writing of their objections
to any of the said applications, otherwise they will be pre-

Goldfields Notices.
Reward of £10,000 offered for the Discovery of New Gold-
fields. - Amended Conditions.
Mines Department,
Wellington, 30th April, 1888.
REWARDS of £10,000 are offered for the discovery of new
goldfields, upon the amended conditions set forth
hereunder.

AMENDED CONDITIONS.

The maximum sum offered as a reward for any proved
discovery of a new goldfield in accordance with these condi-
tions is £5,000 for the North Island, and £5,000 for the
Middle Island. -
The newly-discovered goldfield must be situated not
less than forty miles from any existing goldfield or any
existing workings. -
No reward shall be payable until 50,000 ounces of gold
have been produced from the newly-discovered goldfield
within three years from the date of its being registered. -
Any person discovering new gold-workings, and being
desirous of obtaining the reward, shall immediately forward
a written report of such discovery, with full particulars, to
the Warden or Resident Magistrate of the district within
which such discovery shall be situated, and the Warden or
Resident Magistrate shall forthwith register the report as an
application for reward. -
No prospecting will be allowed upon Native land with-
out a prospecting license authorising the person therein
named, with the consent of the owner of the land, to prospect,
in accordance with the provisions of sections one hundred
and thirty-five to one hundred and thirty-seven of "The
Mining Act, 1886," inclusive.
No reward shall be paid for any discovery that may be
made upon Native land without the consent of the Native
owners and the approval of the Minister of Mines.

Application for Rehearing of Claim granted.
NATIVE LAND COURT, NEW ZEALAND:
DISTRICT OF GISBORNE.
IN the matter of a decision of the Court given on the 31st
day of May, 1888, at Wairoa, in the said district, upon
the hearing of a claim for partition of land situate in the
said district, and known as Waihua No. 1; and in the matter
of the several applications for a rehearing upon the said claim,
made in writing within three months after such decision was
given, by Eparaima Purei and other Natives feeling them-
selves aggrieved thereby:
Upon inquiry in open Court as to the said applications,
held at Napier on the 8th day of May, 1889, by the Chief
Judge, assisted by Tamati Tautuhi, an Assessor of the Court,
I, Hugh Garden Seth Smith, Chief Judge of the said Court,
in exercise of the authority in that behalf vested in me, do
hereby order that a rehearing upon such claims be had,
for the purpose of ascertaining whether any names should
be added to the list of owners already admitted, and for the
purpose also of deciding what, as among the several owners
of the said land, are their relative shares and interests, at a
time and place to be hereafter notified; subject to the condi-
tion that the validity of any lease now in existence of the
said land shall not be affected by any order of the Court.
