Validating Action taken by Acting Clerk, Pahiatua Town
District Licensing Committee.

ORDER IN COUNCIL.

At the Government House, at Wellington, this fourth day
of June, 1889.

Present:
HIS EXCELLENCY THE GOVERNOR IN COUNCIL.

WHEREAS by the two hundred and twenty-seventh
section of "The Licensing Act, 1881" (hereinafter
termed "the said Act"), it is enacted that if, through any
accidental or unavoidable impediment, misfeasance, or
omission, anything required by the said Act to be done is
omitted to be done, or is not done within the time fixed, the
Governor in Council may take all such measures as may be
necessary for removing such impediment or rectifying such
misfeasance or omission, and may validate anything which
may have been irregularly done in matter of form, so that
the intent and purpose of the said Act may have effect:
And whereas, owing to a change in the office of Clerk of the
Licensing Committee for Pahiatua Town District Licensing
Committee, the notices of the annual licensing meeting of
the said Committee, to be held in June next, were not pub-
lished within the period required by the said Act and its
amendments, and such notices were signed by Henry Wil-
liam Briggs, Acting Clerk of the said Committee: And
whereas it appears expedient to validate the publication
in manner aforesaid of the said notices:

Now, therefore, His Excellency the Governor of the Colony
of New Zealand, in pursuance and exercise of the powers
conferred by the said Act, and of all other powers enabling
him in this behalf, and acting with the advice and consent
of the Executive Council of the said colony, doth hereby
validate the publication of the notices of the annual licen-
sing meeting of the Pahiatua District Licensing Committee,
given by the said H. W. Briggs, Acting Clerk of the said
Committee as aforesaid, and doth hereby order and declare
that the like consequences shall ensue, and the like pro-
ceedings be had and taken, as if the said notices had been
regularly given and published as by the said recited Acts
required.

Powers delegated to the Scotsburn Domain Board under
"The Public Domains Act, 1881."

ORDER IN COUNCIL.

At the Government House, at Wellington, this fourth day
of June, 1889.

Present:
HIS EXCELLENCY THE GOVERNOR IN COUNCIL.

IN exercise and pursuance of the powers and authorities
vested in him by "The Public Domains Act, 1881," His
Excellency the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, by
and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council
thereof, doth hereby revoke a certain Order in Council,
dated the tenth day of March, one thousand eight hun-
dred and eighty-one, making delegation of certain powers
in manner as therein appears; and doth, with the like advice
and consent, by this present order, delegate, but only with
respect to the piece or parcel of land described in the
Schedule hereto, all the powers conferred by the Act afore-
said, except the powers under or conferred by sections five
and twelve thereof, to the under-mentioned persons, who
shall be known as the Scotsburn Public Domain Board,
namely,โ€”

The Hon. JOHN BARTON ARUNDEL ACLAND,
GEORGE JAMES DENNISTOUN,
JAMES PITHIE,
ARTHUR JOSEPH HAWDON, and
ROBERT IRVINE
(herein referred to as "the Board"), subject to the stipula-
tions hereinafter contained, that is to say,-

  1. The Board shall meet for the transaction of business
    on the third Friday in each month, at three o'clock p.m.,
    at the Road Board Office, Peel Forest, or at such other time
    or place as may from time to time be fixed by the Board.
    The first meeting shall be held on Friday, the twenty-first
    day of June, one thousand eight hundred and eighty-nine.
  2. Special meetings may be convened by the Chairman or
    by any two members of the Board, provided that two days'
    notice of such meeting be given to each member, specifying
    the business to be transacted at such special meeting, and
    no other business than that so specified shall be transacted
    at such meeting.
  3. Any three of the said Board shall form a quorum. Any
    meeting may be adjourned from time to time.
  4. The members of the Board shall, at their first meeting,
    and thereafter at an annual meeting to be held on the first
    Monday in January in every succeeding year thereafter,
    elect one of themselves to be Chairman, who may join in the
    discussion, and shall have an original as well as a casting
    vote. The Chairman shall hold office until the รฉlection of
    his successor.
  5. If at any meeting the Chairman is not present at the
    time appointed for holding the same, the members present
    shall choose some one of their number to be Chairman of
    such meeting.
  6. If, by resignation, death, or incapacity, or otherwise, the
    office of Chairman shall be or become vacant, the members
    may at any monthly or special meeting appoint a Chairman.
  7. All questions shall be determined by the majority of
    votes of the members of the Board present at a meeting.

SCHEDULE.
ALL that parcel of land in the Orari Survey District, Pro-
vincial District of Canterbury, containing 50 acres, more or
less. Bounded north-eastward by the road south-west of
Section No. 15391, 2850 links; south-eastward by a line at
right angles to the said road; and westward by a road-line:
and numbered 1554 (in red) on the official map in the Survey
Office, Christchurch.

Removal of Restrictions on Alienation of Native Land.

ONSLOW, Governor.
ORDER IN COUNCIL.

At the Government House, at Wellington, this fourth day
of June, 1889.

Present:
HIS EXCELLENCY THE GOVERNOR IN COUNCIL.

WHEREAS application has been made to the Governor
in Council by Wiremu Ututangata, the Native owner
of the land described in the second column of the Schedule
hereto, praying that the restrictions on the alienation of
such lands contained in the Crown grant, bearing date the
eighth day of September, one thousand eight hundred and
eighty-one, described in the first column of the said Schedule,
may be removed: And whereas it appears expedient to grant
such application:

Now, therefore, His Excellency the Right Honourable
William Hillier, Earl of Onslow, the Governor of the Colony
of New Zealand, in pursuance and exercise of the powers
conferred on him by "The Native Land Act, 1888," and
acting with the advice and consent of the Executive Council
of the said colony, doth hereby order and declare that all
restrictions imposed by the said Crown grant on the aliena-
tion of the said lands are hereby removed.
