Application for Registration of a Trade Mark.

NOTICE is hereby given that Messrs. BELL, GULLY, AND
IZARD, of Wellington, New Zealand, Solicitors, have
applied, on behalf of NELSON, MOATE, AND COMPANY, of
Christchurch, New Zealand, Tea Merchants, to register, under
"The Trade Marks Act, 1866," the trade mark of which the
following is a description:-

Description of Trade Mark.

The representation of a clock, the hands of which are
pointing to the hour of five. Above the clock are the words
"five o'clock," and below the clock the word "Tea." The
whole clock and words being enclosed in a floral device of an
oblong shape.

Nature of the Article to which it is intended such Trade
Mark shall apply.

Tea, whether in packages, bags, boxes, or otherwise how-
soever.

Reward of £10,000 offered for the Discovery of New Gold-
fields.—Amended Conditions.

REWARDS of £10,000 are offered for the discovery of new
goldfields, upon the amended conditions set forth
hereunder.

AMENDED CONDITIONS.

  1. The maximum sum offered as a reward for any proved
    discovery of a new goldfield in accordance with these condi-
    tions is £5,000 for the North Island, and £5,000 for the
    Middle Island.
  2. The newly-discovered goldfield must be situated not
    less than forty miles from any existing goldfield or any
    existing workings.
  3. No reward shall be payable until 50,000 ounces of gold
    have been produced from the newly-discovered goldfield
    within three years from the date of its being registered.
  4. Any person discovering new gold-workings, and being
    desirous of obtaining the reward, shall immediately forward
    a written report of such discovery, with full particulars, to
    the Warden or Resident Magistrate of the district within
    which such discovery shall be situated, and the Warden or
    Resident Magistrate shall forthwith register the report as an
    application for reward.
  5. No prospecting will be allowed upon Native land with-
    out a prospecting license authorising the person therein
    named, with the consent of the owner of the land, to prospect,
    in accordance with the provisions of sections one hundred
    and thirty-five to one hundred and thirty-seven of "The
    Mining Act, 1886," inclusive.
    No reward shall be paid for any discovery that may be
    made upon Native land without the consent of the Native
    owners and the approval of the Minister of Mines.

No. 3702.-EDWARD WATERS, of No. 131, William Street,
Melbourne, Victoria, Patent Agent, has deposited at
this office a specification of an invention for an improved
process for the amalgamation of gold or other metals capable
of amalgamation, being a communication from Harmon
Sydney Baker, Secretary of the Newbery-Vautin (Patents)
Gold-extraction Company (Limited), of London, England.

And I have appointed Friday, the 31st day of January
next, at 11 o'clock in the forenoon, at this office, to hear
the said application and all objections thereto; and I
require all persons having an interest in opposing the grant
of such Letters Patent to leave, on or before the 16th day of
January next, at this office, particulars in writing of their
objections to the said application, otherwise they will be
precluded from urging the same.

ral retired, has deposited at this office a specification of an
invention for a pocket hand-warmer, to be called "The
Kyro Pocket Hand-warmer."

No. 3700.-JAMES BALLANTYNE HANNAY, of Cove Castle,
Loch Long, Dumbarton, Scotland, Chemical Engineer, has
deposited at this office a specification of an invention for
improvements in apparatus for the application and supply of
chlorine employed in extracting gold from ores.

No. 3701.-ARTHUR HART BOWMAN, of London, England,
Jeweller and Silversmith, has deposited at this office a spe-
cification of an invention for improvements in tea- and coffee-
pots and similar vessels.

No. 3703.-WALTER BROWN, of Farish Street, Wellington,
New Zealand, Engineer, has deposited at this office a speci-
fication of an invention for improvements in flax-strippers
for dressing New Zealand flax.

No. 3704.-MILLARD JOHNSON, of Punt Road, St. Kilda,
near Melbourne, Victoria, Analytical Chemist, WILLIAM
EDDINGTON FIELD, of same place, Analytical Chemist, and
JOSEPH SAMUEL BEEMAN, of Harbledown, Carlisle Street,
St. Kilda aforesaid, Engineer and Electrician, have depo-
sited at this office a specification of an invention for im-
provements in amalgams and method of applying the same,
to be called "Johnson, Field, and Beeman's Patent Amal-
gamating Process."

No. 3705.-EDMUND BARKER, of Auckland, New Zealand,
Commission Agent, has deposited at this office a specifica-
tion of an invention for an improvement in connection with
smoking-pipes, cigar-tubes, &c., to be called "Barker's Nico-
tine Catcher."

And I have appointed Thursday, the 1st day of August
next, at 11 o'clock in the forenoon, at this office, to hear the
said applications and all objections thereto; and I require all
persons having an interest in opposing the grant of any such
Letters Patent to leave, on or before the 17th day of July
next, at this office, particulars in writing of their objections
to any of the said applications, otherwise they will be pre-
cluded from urging the same.

apparatus for carburetting gas.

No. 3709.-ROBERT COCKERELL, of Invercargill, New
Zealand, Agricultural-implement Maker, has deposited at
this office a specification of an invention for the adjustable
flanged sucker-frame for double-action circular-made force-
