RURAL LANDS OPEN FOR APPLICATION.

Description of Land: Open land, inferior soil; close to
Kawerua Landing.

TOTARA PARISH, WHANGAROA COUNTY.

Description of Land: Lots 17 and 20 contain a good deal
of green burnt kauri of a valuable nature, the latter having
a portion of open land in it; 22 has very heavy kauri upon
it; 23 has a frontage to Whangaroa Harbour.

SMALL GRAZING RUNS OPEN FOR APPLICATION.

Description of Land: The old crater of Sunday Island,
part of which is open and bare dried mud, somewhat stony,
though the greater part is covered with pohutakawa, ngaio,
and other trees. The soil in parts is very good, but generally
not so. It is for the most part naturally fenced by steep
cliffs. There are three small lakes in this run.

MATATA RUNS, BAY OF PLENTY DISTRICT.

Description of Land: Situate on the East Coast, near
Tauranga. The runs in some cases contain bush, and ex-
tend from the vicinity of the lakes to Richmond Township.
They are watered by streams, and are near the main
Tauranga-Opotiki Road.

Sale of Reserve, Canterbury Land District.

NOTICE is hereby given that the under-mentioned re-
serve will be offered for sale by public auction, under
section 96 of "The Land Act, 1885," on Wednesday, the 22nd
May, 1889, at 10 a.m., at the Courthouse, Amberley. Plans
may be seen at the Land Office, Christchurch:-

Reserve 865, 15 acres, upset price £97 10s., adjoining
Greyney's land, and close to the Greney's Road Railway-
station, two and a half miles north of Amberley.

Determination of Compensation, &c.

NOTICE is hereby given that a sitting of the Native
Land Court will be holden at Lower Hutt, on Wednes-
day, the 5th day of June, 1889, for the purpose of ascertain-
ing what amount of compensation ought to be paid to the
Native owners of the land known as Ngahauranga, Sections
8 and 9 of Block XII., in the Survey District of Belmont,
in the Provincial District of Wellington, in respect of that
portion of the said land taken under Order in Council dated
the eighth day of February, 1886, for defence purposes, as
the same is more particularly delineated on the plan
marked P.W.D. 13647, deposited in the office of the Minister
for Public Works, at Wellington, in the said provincial
district, and thereon coloured red; and also for the pur-
pose of ascertaining who are the persons entitled to be paid
