Militia,
to command the Wairarapa District, vice Major Henry
Bunny, New Zealand Militia, who retires under the pro-
visions of clause 236 of the Volunteer Regulations, 1889.

THE following special order, made by the Danevirke
Road Board, is published in accordance with "The
Road Boards Act, 1882."

SPECIAL ORDER passed by the Danevirke Road Board, at a
Meeting held on Wednesday, the 1st day of May, 1889.
THAT it be a special order of this Board that, for the pur-
pose of providing for the interest and sinking fund upon a
loan of £3,080 to be raised by the Danevirke Road Board,
under "The Government Loans to Local Bodies Act, 1886,"
there be levied a special annual-recurring rate of one-third
of a penny in the pound upon all rateable property in the
district; and the said rate is hereby accordingly made and
levied for and during the whole period required by the afore-
said Act for the continuance of such loan, such rate to be
payable yearly on the first day of July in each year during
the continuance of the aforesaid loan.
I hereby certify that the above special order has been
duly passed as required by section 75 of "The Road Boards
Act, 1882."

THE following notice, received from the Chairman of
the Kiwitea Road Board, is published in accordance
with "The Local Bodies' Loans Act, 1886."

RESULT of poll on proposal to borrow £4,000 under "The
Government Loans to Local Bodies Act, 1886," for the pur-
pose of constructing roads in the Ruahine Ward, taken on
the 27th April, 1889:-
Total number of ratepayers on roll, 87; representing 87
votes. Votes recorded in favour of proposal, 48 votes;
against, nil.
As a majority of ratepayers voted in favour of the pro-
posal, and the number so voting are entitled to more than
half the votes exercisable by the whole number of ratepayers,
I hereby declare the proposal carried.

NOTICE is hereby given that JAMES INGLIS AND JOHN
PARKER, of 4 and 6, Deans Place, Sydney, New South
Wales, Tea, East India, and General Merchants, trading as
James Inglis & Co., have applied to register, under "The
Trade Marks Act, 1886," the trade mark of which the fol-
lowing is a description:-
Description of Trade Mark.
A label consisting of four panels or subdivisions, with the
following printed thereon:-
First Panel: Depicts a bushman at his tent-door putting
tea into a billy which is slung over a fire. The words "Billy
Tea" and a pale crescent moon are shown over the back-
ground of forest.
Second Panel: Depicts two swagsmen at their midday
halt having tea, a horseman in the background, and a visitor
in bushman costume approaching in front. Underneath are
the words "Have some BILLY TEA, mate."
Third Panel: Consists of letter-press on each side, and in
the centre a picture of a carved Burmese tea-house or
"thain;" a crescent to the left, and three curved palm-
trees to the right; in front an elephant with a houdah and
trappings, and three natives squatting on the ground; above,
the words "Billy Tea;" and beneath, the words "Trade
Mark."
Fourth Panel: To the right a picnic scene depicted by a
riverside, and on the left a representation of a billy-can with
the letter "T" thereon, and above it the words "Billy Tea."
Commissioner of the Supreme Court appointed.
ERNEST WADDELL PERKINS, Solicitor of Sydney, New
South Wales, has been appointed, this day, by His
Honour the Chief Justice, a Commissioner of the Supreme
Court of New Zealand in New South Wales, under the second
section of "The Commissioners of the Supreme Court Act,
1875," for the purpose of administering oaths, &c.
