Lake Takapuna, Auckland, and Lake Grassmere, Marlborough, closed for Native Game.

WHEREAS by a warrant dated the sixteenth day of March, one thousand eight hundred and eighty-nine, and published in the Gazette of the twenty-first day of March, one thousand eight hundred and eighty-nine, it was notified that native game might be taken or killed in the Colony of New Zealand except in certain specified districts: And whereas it is expedient that native game should not be taken or killed on or around Lake Takapuna, in the County of Waitemata, and on or around Lake Grassmere, in the County of Marlborough:
Now, therefore, I, James Prendergast, the Administrator of the Government of the Colony of New Zealand, in exercise and pursuance of “The Animals Protection Act, 1880,” and the Acts amending the same, do hereby notify that native game shall not be taken or killed on or around Lake Takapuna, in the County of Waitemata, and on or around Lake Grassmere, in the County of Marlborough.
As witness the hand of His Excellency the Administrator of the Government, this seventeenth day of April, one thousand eight hundred and eighty-nine.

Shooting Season for Imported Game, License Fee, &c., Tauranga District.

IN exercise of the powers vested in me by “The Animals Protection Act, 1880,” and the Acts amending the same, I, James Prendergast, the Administrator of the Government of the Colony of New Zealand, do hereby notify that cock-pheasants and Californian and Australian quail may be taken or killed within the Tauranga District, consisting of the Counties of Tauranga and Rotorua, and so much of the Counties of East Taupo and Rotorua as lies to the north of the Rangitaiki River, from the first day of May, one thousand eight hundred and eighty-nine, to the thirty-first day of July, one thousand eight hundred and eighty-nine, both inclusive (subject nevertheless to the restrictions in the said Acts mentioned). And I do further notify that licenses to take or kill such game within the said district shall be issued on payment of the sum of twenty shillings each, and that licenses to sell such game shall be issued on payment of the sum of five pounds each; and the Postmaster at Tauranga is hereby appointed to sign and issue the said licenses.

IN exercise of the powers vested in me by “The Animals Protection Act, 1880,” and the Acts amending the same, I, James Prendergast, the Administrator of the Government of the Colony of New Zealand, do hereby notify that cock-pheasants may be taken or killed within the Opotiki District, consisting of so much of the Counties of East Taupo and Whakatane as lies to the south of the Rangitaiki River, from the first day of May, one thousand eight hundred and eighty-nine, to the thirty-first day of July, one thousand eight hundred and eighty-nine, both inclusive (subject nevertheless to the restrictions in the said Acts mentioned). And I do further notify that licenses to take or kill such game within the said district shall be issued on payment of the sum of ten shillings each, and that licenses to sell such game shall be issued on payment of the sum of five pounds each; and the Postmaster at Opotiki is hereby appointed to sign and issue the said licenses.
