NO. 3616.—CHARLES ALBERT KNIGHT, of 107, Hope
Street, Glasgow, Lanark, Scotland, Engineer, has
deposited at this office a specification of an invention for
improvements in steam generators.
No. 3617.—WILLIAM JOHN STEWART, of Great King
Street, Dunedin, Otago, New Zealand, Coachbuilder, has
deposited at this office a specification of an invention for a
tubular carriage-jack.
No. 3618.—JOHN JAMES HASLAM, of Wharf Road, Avon-
dale, Auckland, New Zealand, Builder, has deposited at this
office a specification of an invention for improvements in
Haslam's patent twin self-discharging hydraulic hopper
pontoon for receiving and conveying silt, sand, gravel, scoria,
rock, stone, or other such material, and self-discharging
same.
No. 3619.—THEOPHILUS BUTTERWORTH HEATH, of Upper
Symonds Street, Auckland, New Zealand, Boot and Shoe
Manufacturer, has deposited at this office a specification of
an invention for an improvement in the manufacture of lace
boots, where the upper is cut out of one piece of leather,
with seam down the back, to be called "T. B. Heath's Fern
Boot."
No. 3620.—WILLIAM JAMES DALTON, of Auckland, New
Zealand, Civil Engineer, has deposited at this office a speci-
fication of an invention for an improved toe-cap and toe-
plate, and an improved heel-plate for boots, &c., to be called
"Dalton's Patent Toe-caps and Heels."
No. 3621.—ROBERT PEARCE GIBBONS, of Ohinemuri,
Auckland, New Zealand, Mill Proprietor, has deposited at
this office a specification of an invention for Gibbons's patent
improved flax machine, with moveable beaters and rollers,
for cleaning phormium tenax.
And I have appointed Thursday, the 20th day of June
next, at 11 o'clock in the forenoon, at this office, to hear the
said applications and all objections thereto; and I require all
persons having an interest in opposing the grant of any such
Letters Patent to leave, on or before the 5th day of June
next, at this office, particulars in writing of their objections
to any of the said applications, otherwise they will be pre-
cluded from urging the same.

of an invention for the destruction of blight on fruit-trees,
commonly called "the scale blight," and to be named
"Keen's Blight Exterminator."
No. 3623.—WALTER COLE, of Melbourne, Victoria, Archi-
tect, has deposited at this office a specification of an inven-
tion for churning cream and forming emulsions.
No. 3624.—GEORGE MCBRIDE, of Auckland, New Zealand,
Tailor, has deposited at this office a specification of an
invention for advertising purposes, to be called "McBride's
Parlor Archery."
And I have appointed Tuesday, the 25th day of June next,
at 11 o'clock in the forenoon, at this office, to hear the
said applications and all objections thereto; and I require
all persons having an interest in opposing the grant of any
such Letters Patent to leave, on or before the 10th day of
June next, at this office, particulars in writing of their
objections to any of the said applications, otherwise they
will be precluded from urging the same.

Goldfields Notices.
Reward of £10,000 offered for the Discovery of New Gold
fields.—Amended Conditions.
Mines Department,
Wellington, 30th April, 1888.
REWARDS of £10,000 are offered for the discovery of new
goldfields, upon the amended conditions set forth
hereunder.

AMENDED CONDITIONS.
-
The maximum sum offered as a reward for any proved
discovery of a new goldfield in accordance with these condi-
tions is £5,000 for the North Island, and £5,000 for the
Middle Island. -
The newly-discovered goldfield must be situated not
less than forty miles from any existing goldfield or any
existing workings. -
No reward shall be payable until 50,000 ounces of gold
have been produced from the newly-discovered goldfield
within three years from the date of its being registered. -
Any person discovering new gold-workings, and being
desirous of obtaining the reward, shall immediately forward
a written report of such discovery, with particulars, to
the Warden or Resident Magistrate of the district within
which such discovery shall be situated, and the Warden or
Resident Magistrate shall forthwith register the report as an
application for reward. -
No prospecting will be allowed upon Native land with-
out a prospecting license authorising the person therein
named, with the consent of the owner of the land, to prospect,
in accordance with the provisions of sections one hundred
and thirty-five to one hundred and thirty-seven of "The
Mining Act, 1886," inclusive.
No reward shall be paid for any discovery that may be
made upon Native land without the consent of the Native
owners and the approval of the Minister of Mines.
Gold-mining Leases cancelled.

of the Government has been pleased to pronounce the
under-mentioned gold-mining leases cancelled, the whole
area being now included in one special claim :—
