All in the Provincial District of Otago; as the said parcels
of land are more particularly delineated on the plans marked
P.W.D. 16139, deposited in the office of the Minister
for Public Works, at Wellington, in the Provincial District
of Wellington, and thereon coloured red and blue.

Given under the hand of His Excellency Sir William
Francis Drummond Jervois, Lieutenant-General
in Her Majesty's Army, Knight Grand Cross of
the Most Distinguished Order of Saint Michael
and Saint George, Companion of the Most
Honourable Order of the Bath, Governor and
Commander-in-Chief in and over Her Majesty's
Colony of New Zealand and its Dependencies,
and Vice-Admiral of the same; and issued under
the Seal of the said Colony, at the Government
House, at Wellington, this seventh day of March,
in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hun-
dred and eighty-nine.

ORDER IN COUNCIL.

At the Government House, at Wellington, this twelfth
day of March, 1889.

Present:
HIS EXCELLENCY THE GOVERNOR IN COUNCIL.

WHEREAS by section five of " The Naval and Military
Settlers' and Volunteers' Land Act, 1888 " (herein-
after termed " the said Act "), it is enacted that, in case of
the death of any person found entitled to a certificate of
remission of money under the said Act, the Governor, by
Order in Council, may direct such certificate to be issued to

such person or persons as he shall think most equitably
entitled thereto : And whereas the several persons men-
tioned in the first column of the Schedule hereto were
respectively entitled to certificates of remission under the
said Act, and it appears expedient to make provision for such
cases :

Now, therefore, His Excellency the Governor of the Colony
of New Zealand, in pursuance and exercise of the power and
authority conferred by the said Act, and acting by and with
the advice and consent of the Executive Council of the said
colony, doth hereby order and direct that the certificate of
remission to which each deceased person mentioned in the
first column of the Schedule hereto was entitled under the
said Act shall be issued to the person or persons whose
names are set opposite the name of each such deceased
person respectively in the second column of the said Schedule.

Validating and fixing Licensing Elections.

ORDER IN COUNCIL.

At the Government House, at Wellington, this twelfth
day of March, 1889.

Present:
HIS EXCELLENCY THE GOVERNOR IN COUNCIL.

WHEREAS by section two hundred and twenty-seven
of " The Licensing Act, 1881 " (herein termed " the
said Act "), it is provided that if, through any accidental
impediment, misfeasance, or omission, anything
required by the said Act to be done is omitted to be done,
or is not done within the time fixed, the Governor in Council
may take all such measures as may be necessary for removing
such impediment or rectifying such misfeasance or omission,
and may validate anything which may have been irregularly
done in matter of form, so that the intent and purpose of the
Act may have effect :

And whereas the election of Licensing Committees for the
Districts of Alfredton, Masterton, and Castlepoint, which
should have been held during the month of February last,
was not so held, no date having been appointed by the
Returning Officer for the said districts for the holding of the
said elections : And whereas it appears expedient to extend
the time for holding the said elections in the districts
aforesaid :

Now, therefore, His Excellency Sir William Francis Drum-
mond Jervois, the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand,
in pursuance and exercise of the powers and authorities
conferred by the said Act, and of all other powers enabling
him in this behalf, and by and with the advice and consent
of the Executive Council of the said colony, doth hereby
order and declare that the next elections of Licensing Com-
mittees for the Licensing Districts of Alfredton, Masterton,
and Castlepoint, to be held under the provisions of section
thirteen of the said Act, shall take place on the twenty-ninth
day of the month of March instant : And in exercise of the
like powers and authorities, and with the like advice and
consent as aforesaid, His Excellency doth hereby further
order and declare that the Returning Officer for the said
districts shall give like notices, and such proceedings
shall be had and taken, mutatis mutandis, in all respects as
if the said elections were about to be held in the usual and
regular course in the said districts.
