Vesting Control of Wilson's Bridge in Selwyn County
Council.

A PROCLAMATION.

WHEREAS by section four of "The Public Works Acts
Amendment Act, 1887" (hereinafter termed "the
said Act"), it is, inter alia, enacted that the Governor may,
upon the terms and conditions in the said section men-
tioned, by Proclamation publicly notified, direct that any
bridge already constructed, or which may hereafter be
constructed, over or across any river or arm of the sea
respectively, shall, from and after a date to be fixed in such
Proclamation, be under the exclusive care, control, and
management of such local authority as shall be mentioned
in that behalf in such Proclamation:

And whereas it is expedient that the control and manage-
ment of the bridge described in the Schedule hereto should
be vested in the manner hereinafter described:

Now, therefore, I, William Francis Drummond Jervois,
the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, in exercise and
pursuance of the powers and authorities in me vested by the
said Act, and of every other power and authority in anywise
enabling me in this behalf, do hereby direct that the bridge
mentioned in the Schedule hereto, and known as Wilson's
Bridge, shall, from and after the date of the first publication
hereof in the Lyttelton Times newspaper, be under the
exclusive care, control, and management of the Selwyn
County Council; and I do hereby fix and determine that
the Selwyn County Council shall itself provide out of its
own funds two-thirds of the cost of managing and main-
taining the said bridge; and that the Borough Council of
Sydenham shall, on demand in writing from the said
Selwyn County Council, pay to the said Council from time
to time one-third of the actual cost of managing and main-
taining the said bridge.

SCHEDULE.

THAT bridge over the Heathcote River known as Wilson's
Bridge, situated on the line of road known as Wilson's
Road (said road being portion of the south-eastern boundary
of the Borough of Sydenham), and the continuation of which
passes in a south-easterly direction through Section No. 16,
Block XV., Christchurch Survey District, all in the Provin-
cial District of Canterbury; as the same is delineated on the
plan marked P.W.D. 16155, deposited in the office of the
Minister for Public Works, at Wellington, in the Provincial
District of Wellington, and thereon marked in red.

Given under the hand of His Excellency Sir William
Francis Drummond Jervois, Lieutenant-General
in Her Majesty's Army, Knight Grand Cross of
the Most Distinguished Order of Saint Michael
and Saint George, Companion of the Most Honour-
able Order of the Bath, Governor and Commander-
in-Chief in and over Her Majesty's Colony of New
Zealand and its Dependencies, and Vice-Admiral
of the same; and issued under the Seal of the
said Colony, at the Government House, at Wel-
lington, this fourth day of March, in the year of
our Lord one thousand eight hundred and eighty-
nine.

A PROCLAMATION.

WHEREAS the lands mentioned in the Schedule hereto
are required to be taken, under "The Public Works
Act, 1882," and its amendments, for a certain work, to wit,
the construction of roads in Waihemo County:

And whereas the Waihemo County Council has laid before
the Governor the memorial, accompanied by a map, and also
the statutory declaration, required by the said Act and the
amendments thereof:

Now, therefore, I, William Francis Drummond Jervois,
the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, in exercise and
pursuance of the powers and authorities in me vested by
"The Public Works Act, 1882," and of every other power
and authority in anywise enabling me in that behalf, do
hereby proclaim and declare that, from and after the date
of the publication hereof in the New Zealand Gazette, the
lands mentioned in the Schedule hereto are hereby taken for
the purposes of the construction of the said roads.
