ORDER IN COUNCIL.
At the Government House, at Wellington, this nineteenth
day of February, 1889.
Present:
HIS EXCELLENCY THE GOVERNOR IN COUNCIL.
N exercise and pursuance of the powers and authorities
vested in him by "The Public Domains Act, 1881,"
His Excellency the Governor of the Colony of New Zea-
land, by and with the advice and consent of the Execu-
tive Council thereof, doth hereby revoke a certain Order in
Council, dated the twentieth day of March, one thousand
eight hundred and eighty-three, making delegation of certain
powers in manner as therein appears; and doth, with the
like advice and consent, by this present order, delegate, but
only with respect to the piece or parcel of land described in
the Schedule hereto, all the powers conferred by the Act
aforesaid, except the powers under or conferred by sections
five and twelve thereof, to the under-mentioned persons, who
shall be known as the Waikiekie Public Domain Board,
namely,-
FRANCK C. HILFORD,
HARRY HILFORD,
JOHN BABE,
GEORGE TAYLOR,
THOMAS LOWE,
HARRY J. J. NEVILLE, and
PETER MASON
(herein referred to as "the Board"), subject to the stipula-
tions hereinafter contained, that is to say,--

The Board shall meet for the transaction of business on
the third Saturday in each month, at two o'clock p.m., at
the Waikiekie Chapel, or at such other time or place as
may from time to time be fixed by the Board. The first
meeting shall be held on Saturday, the twenty-third day of
March, one thousand eight hundred and eighty-nine. -
Special meetings may be convened by the Chairman or
by any two members of the Board, provided that two days'
notice of such meeting be given to each member, specifying
the business to be transacted at such special meeting, and
no other business than that so specified shall be transacted
at such meeting. -
Any three of the said Board shall form a quorum. Any
meeting may be adjourned from time to time. -
The members of the Board shall, at their first meeting,
and thereafter at an annual meeting to be held on the second
Monday in January in every succeeding year thereafter,
elect one of themselves to be Chairman, who may join in the
discussion, and shall have an original as well as a casting
vote. The Chairman shall hold office until the election of
his successor. -
If at any meeting the Chairman is not present at the
time appointed for holding the same, the members present
shall choose some one of their number to be Chairman of
such meeting. -
If, by resignation, death, or incapacity, or otherwise,
the office of Chairman shall be or become vacant, the mem-
bers may at any monthly or special meeting appoint a
Chairman. -
All questions shall be determined by the majority of
votes of the members of the Board present at a meeting.
SCHEDULE.
ALL that piece or parcel of land containing by admeasure-
ment 60 acres, more or less, and being north-eastern portion
of Allotment No. 49, Parish of Waikiekie, Tangihua Survey
District. Bounded towards the north by Allotment No. 48,
2740 links; towards the east by a road-line, 3788 links;
towards the south-west by middle portion of Allotment No. 49,
2300 links; and towards the west by Allotment No. 50, 2150
links: be all the aforesaid linkages more or less.

Election of Native Assessor, Kirikiri Licensing District.

N pursuance and exercise of the powers conferred upon
I him by "The Licensing Act, 1881," and "The Licensing
Act Amendment Act, 1882," His Excellency the Governor
of a Native Assessor for the Native Licensing District of
Kirikiri :-

The nomination of candidates shall take place at Hori
Matene's house, Kirikiri, on Saturday, the twenty-third day
of February instant, at the hour of noon. -
If a poll be demanded by a candidate or by any elector,
the same shall be taken and the election held at the house
aforesaid, on Friday, the first day of March next. -
The regulations for the annual elections of Native
Assessors for the Native licensing districts in the colony,
dated the seventeenth day of January, one thousand eight
hundred and eighty-three, and published in the New Zealand
Gazette No. 5, of the eighteenth day of January, one
thousand eight hundred and eighty-three, shall apply to the
present election of an Assessor for the Native Licensing
District of Kirikiri, except where they are repugnant to the
regulations now made.
As witness the hand of His Excellency the Governor,
this fourteenth day of February, one thousand
eight hundred and eighty-nine.

Notice of Intention to change the Purpose of a Reserve at
Matamau, Hawke's Bay.

W HEREAS by "The Public Reserves Act, 1881," it is,
amongst other things, enacted that the Governor
may declare his intention to make, change, exchange, or
alter the dedication of any public reserve now or hereafter
vested in Her Majesty or the Governor for any of the pur-
poses named in Class II. of the Schedule to the said Act,
whether the same be granted or not; and, in the case of any
reserves made under the authority of section two hundred
and twenty-seven of "The Land Act, 1885," if it shall, in the
opinion of the Governor, be expedient to change the purpose
of such reserves or any part thereof from the purpose or
presumed purpose for which it was set apart to any other
purpose, or if it shall, in the opinion of the Governor, be expe-
dient to exchange any of the land comprised in such reserve
for other land of equal value, to be dedicated to one or more
purposes named in the said Class II., the Governor may, by
notice in the Gazette, declare his intention to make such
change, exchange, or dedication, as the case may be, and in
such notice declare the manner and terms in which the same
is intended to be so made:
Now, therefore, I, William Francis Drummond Jervois,
the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, do hereby, in
exercise and pursuance of the powers and authorities vested
in me by "The Public Reserves Act, 1881," aforesaid, declare
my intention to change the specific purpose of the reserve
described in the first column of the Schedule hereto to the
specific purpose set opposite such description in the second
column of the said Schedule.

W HEREAS by section seventeen of "The Land Act,
1885," it is provided that the reserves to be made
for any borough or town district under such section shall be
made only in cases where no such reserves for the purpose
of sections three, five, and six of "The Plans of Towns
Regulation Act, 1875," exist therein, or, if existing, do not
equal or exceed the amount of reserves authorised to be
made under such last-mentioned Act:
And whereas the existing reserves for the Town of Aro-
whenua do not equal the amount of reserves authorised to
