Vesting Control of the Mangere Bridge in Mangere Road
Board.

A PROCLAMATION.
WHEREAS by section four of "The Public Works Acts
Amendment Act, 1887" (hereinafter termed "the
said Act"), it is, inter alia, enacted that the Governor may,
upon the terms and conditions in the said section men-
tioned, by Proclamation publicly notified, direct that any
bridge already constructed, or which may hereafter be
constructed, over or across any river or arm of the sea
respectively, shall, from and after a date to be fixed in such
Proclamation, be under the exclusive care, control, and
management of such local authority as shall be mentioned
in that behalf in such Proclamation:
And whereas it is expedient that the control and manage-
ment of the bridge described in the Schedule hereto should
be vested in the manner hereinafter described:
Now, therefore, I, William Francis Drummond Jervois,
the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, in exercise and
pursuance of the powers and authorities in me vested by
the said Act, and of every other power and authority in any
wise enabling me in this behalf, do hereby direct that the
bridge mentioned in the Schedule hereto, and known as the
Mangere Bridge, shall, from and after the date of the first
publication hereof in the Auckland Evening Star newspaper,
be under the exclusive care, control, and management of the
Mangere Road Board; and I do hereby fix and determine
that the Mangere Road Board shall itself provide out of its
own funds one-half of the cost of managing and maintaining
the said bridge; and that the Onehunga Borough Council
shall, on demand in writing from the said Mangere Road
Board, pay to the said Board from time to time one-half of
the actual cost of managing and maintaining the said
bridge.
SCHEDULE.
THE bridge known as the Mangere Bridge, over an arm of
the sea, being portion of the Manukau Harbour, between the
Borough of Onehunga, in the County of Eden, and the
Mangere Road District, in the County of Manukau, all in
the Provincial District of Auckland; as the same is delineated
on the plan marked P.W.D. 16055, deposited in the office of
the Minister for Public Works, at Wellington, in the Provin-
cial District of Wellington, and thereon marked in red.

Validating and fixing Local Option Poll.

ORDER IN COUNCIL.
At the Government House, at Wellington, this nineteenth
day of February, 1889.
Present:
HIS EXCELLENCY THE GOVERNOR IN COUNCIL.
WHEREAS by section two hundred and twenty-seven
of "The Licensing Act, 1881" (herein termed "the
said Act"), it is provided that if, through any accidental or
unavoidable impediment, misfeasance, or omission, anything
required by the said Act to be done is omitted to be done,
or is not done within the time fixed, the Governor in Council
may take all such measures as may be necessary for removing
such impediment or rectifying such misfeasance or omission,
and may validate anything which may have been irregularly
done in matter of form, so that the intent and purpose of the
Act may have effect:
And whereas the local option poll which should have been
taken in the Licensing District of Avondale, in the Provin-
cial District of Auckland, during the month of December
last, was not so taken, no date having been appointed by the
Chairman of the Licensing Committee of the said district
for the taking of the said poll: And whereas it appears
expedient to extend the time for taking the said poll in the
district aforesaid:
Now, therefore, His Excellency Sir William Francis Drum-
mond Jervois, the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand,
in pursuance and exercise of the powers and authorities
conferred by the said Act, and of all other powers enabling
him in this behalf, and by and with the advice and consent
of the Executive Council of the said colony, doth hereby
order and declare that the next poll of the ratepayers of the
Licensing District of Avondale, in the Provincial District
of Auckland, to be taken under the provisions of section
forty-six of the said Act, shall take place on the twelfth
day of the month of March next; and in exercise of the like
powers and authorities, and with the like advice and consent
as aforesaid, His Excellency doth hereby further order and
declare that the Chairman of the Licensing Committee of
the said district shall give the like notices, and such pro-
ceedings shall be had and taken, mutatis mutandis, in all
respects as if the said poll were about to be taken in the
usual and regular course in the said district.

WHEREAS by "The Harbours Act Amendment Act,
1883" (hereinafter called "the said Act"), it is,
among other things, enacted that, where the foreshore has
been legally vested in any Harbour Board or other local
governing body, it may from time to time, subject to the
provisions of the one hundred and fifty-sixth section of
"The Harbours Act, 1878," license and permit any part of
the foreshore to be used or occupied, inter alia, for the
erection and use of any landing-place or wharf: And
whereas by the said Act it is also provided that every
licensee shall, subject to the provisions of the said Act,
have power to make and construct any necessary recla-
mation for the purpose of erecting on the foreshore com-
prised in his license, or upon any land below low-water
mark immediately contiguous to such foreshore which shall
be specified in such license, any building, structure, erection,
