Steam Service between New Zealand and Chatham Islands.

General Post Office,
Wellington, 6th December, 1888.

SEALED tenders will be received at the General Post Office, Wellington, until noon of Saturday, the 5th January proximo, for the performance of a steam service between New Zealand and Chatham Islands once every three months. The port of departure and arrival in New Zealand to be either Wellington or Lyttelton.

Tenderers to send in offers for one year and also for two years.

The service to be performed in accordance with a timetable to be furnished by the Postmaster-General, and to commence on a date to be fixed hereafter by the Postmaster-General.

Tenderers to state the names, tonnage, and horse-power of the vessels to be employed in the service.

The lowest or any tender will not necessarily be accepted.

Tenders to be addressed to the Hon. the Postmaster-General, and indorsed “Tender for Chatham Islands Steam Service.”

Purchasers must deposit statutory declaration required by section 200 of “The Land Act, 1885,” and pay the first half-year’s rent, and £1 1s. lease, and 10s. registration fees on fall of hammer. NOTICE is hereby given that the leaseholds of the sections of land situated in the Grey Coal Reserve No. 274, and described in the Schedules A, B, and C, given below, will be offered for sale by public auction, at the railway goods-station, Brunnerton, on Wednesday, the 30th January, 1889, at 2 o’clock p.m., subject to the rents, fees, and conditions hereunder set forth.

Maps of the sections may be seen at the District Land Office, Hokitika, and at the railway-station, Brunnerton.

Terms of leaseholds, fourteen years; fixed annual rentals with bonus biddings; right of re-entry reserved to Government for coal-mining purposes only, by paying compensation for improvements not exceeding £200, &c.
