Whereas the said
, being a brewer within the meaning of “The Beer Duty Act, 1880,” and intending to be engaged in the business of brewing within the District of

shall duly and punctually from time to time account for all beer in his or their brewery, and shall pay, or cause to be paid, as provided by law, the duty required by law on all beer, as the same is defined by “The Beer Duty Act, 1880,” and made by him or them, or for him or them, or in his or their brewery, whenever the same shall be sold or removed for consumption
or sale, except when removed as provided by law; and shall duly stamp each cask before delivery; and shall keep true and exact account, as provided for in section 29 of the said Act, of all material purchased, made, and used, of all beer brewed and delivered, and of all stamps purchased and used or to be used; and shall in all other respects faithfully comply, without fraud or evasion, with all the requirements of all laws and regulations relating to the manufacture and sale of beer, then this obligation shall be void, otherwise it shall remain in full force and virtue.

(1) Names, occupations, and residences, in words at length, of the brewer and two sureties.
(2) Amount of penalty in words at length.
(3) Date of first signature in words at length.
(4) A seal to be affixed for each party, and the bond to be signed in the presence of two witnesses, who must sign their names, adding their residences and occupations. An attestation must be added for each separate witnessing, and the names of the principal and sureties must be quoted at length.

Reward of £10,000 offered for the Discovery of New Gold fields.—Amended Conditions.

REWARDS of £10,000 are offered for the discovery of new goldfields, upon the amended conditions set forth hereunder.

AMENDED CONDITIONS.

  1. The maximum sum offered as a reward for any proved discovery of a new goldfield in accordance with these conditions is £5,000 for the North Island, and £5,000 for the Middle Island.

  2. The newly-discovered goldfield must be situated not less than forty miles from any existing goldfield or any existing workings.

  3. No reward shall be payable until 50,000 ounces of gold have been produced from the newly-discovered goldfield within three years from the date of its being registered.

  4. Any person discovering new gold-workings, and being desirous of obtaining the reward, shall immediately forward a written report of such discovery, with full particulars, to the Warden or Resident Magistrate of the district within which such discovery shall be situated, and the Warden or Resident Magistrate shall forthwith register the report as an application for reward.

  5. No prospecting will be allowed upon Native land without a prospecting license authorising the person therein named, with the consent of the owner of the land, to prospect, in accordance with the provisions of sections one hundred and thirty-five to one hundred and thirty-seven of “The Mining Act, 1886,” inclusive.

No reward shall be paid for any discovery that may be made upon Native land without the consent of the Native owners and the approval of the Minister of Mines.

Civil Service Senior Examination.

IN pursuance of regulations under “The Civil Service Reform Act, 1886,” notice is hereby given that for the Senior Examination of January, 1890, the period of literature will be the latter half of the Eighteenth Century, and the special books will be Shakespeare’s Merchant of Venice, and Goldsmith’s Vicar of Wakefield.

Tenders for Letter-carriers’ Uniforms.

General Post Office,
Wellington, 12th December, 1888.

TENDERS will be received at the General Post Office, Wellington, until noon of Saturday, the 5th January, 1889, for the manufacture within the colony, from New Zealand-made material, of Letter-carriers’ uniforms, namely, tunic, trousers, riding-trousers, overcoat, and overcoat with cape.

Samples of clothing may be seen at all Chief Post Offices throughout the colony.

Tenders, quoting price for each garment, accompanied by samples of material, to be addressed to the Secretary, General Post Office, Wellington, and indorsed outside, “Tender for Letter-carriers’ uniforms.”
