A PROCLAMATION.
WHEREAS under the provisions of “The Impounding Act, 1884” (hereinafter termed “the said Act”), the Council of the County of Taieri, in the Provincial District of Otago, have, by a resolution passed by more than two-thirds of the members of the said Council, requested His Excellency the Governor to declare that sections five and six of the said Act shall be in force within the county aforesaid: And whereas it appears expedient to give effect to the said resolution:
Now, therefore, I, William Francis Drummond Jervois, the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, in pursuance and exercise of the power conferred by the said Act, do hereby declare that sections five and six of the said Act shall be in force within the County of Taieri aforesaid, as from the first day of January, one thousand eight hundred and eighty-nine.
Given under the hand of His Excellency Sir William Francis Drummond Jervois, Lieutenant-General in Her Majesty’s Army, Knight Grand Cross of the Most Distinguished Order of Saint Michael and Saint George, Companion of the Most Honourable Order of the Bath, Governor and Commander-in-Chief in and over Her Majesty’s Colony of New Zealand and its Dependencies, and Vice-Admiral of the same; and issued under the Seal of the said Colony, at the Government House, at Wellington, this twenty-first day of December, in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and eighty-eight.

Alteration in the Scale of Charges under “The Public Trust Office Act, 1872.”

ORDER IN COUNCIL.
At the Government House, at Wellington, this twenty-seventh day of November, 1888.
Present:
HIS EXCELLENCY THE GOVERNOR IN COUNCIL.
WHEREAS by “The Public Trust Office Act, 1872,” it is, amongst other things, provided that the Governor may, by Order in Council, make, and from time to time revoke or alter, regulations for fixing scales of charges upon property placed in the Public Trust Office for the cost of managing the same, and for the receipt and payment of moneys belonging to or accruing from such property: And whereas by Order in Council made on the twenty-seventh day of February, one thousand eight hundred and eighty-eight, the Governor in Council did fix certain scales of charges under the hereinbefore in part recited Act: And whereas it is expedient to alter the said scale of charges in part, as hereinafter appears:
Now, therefore, His Excellency the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, in pursuance and exercise of all powers and authorities enabling him in that behalf, and by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council of the said colony, doth hereby revoke the charge under the subdivision lettered (h) in the scale of charges set forth in the Schedule to the said Order in Council, and, by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council as aforesaid, doth hereby substitute therefor and fix the charge set forth in the Schedule hereto.
SCHEDULE.
(h.) On all sums lodged in the Public Trust Office under or in pursuance of the provisions of any Act, rule, or law in that behalf at the time of lodging the same: Provided that all sums lodged in the Public Trust Office, or coming under the control of the Public Trustee, which arise out of the provisions of, or come within the meaning of, “wages and effects of deceased seamen” in “The Shipping and Seamen’s Act, 1877,” shall be exempted from the charge hereby imposed: Provided also that, in any case where, in the opinion of the Public Trustee, it would be inequitable that the charge hereby made should be paid on lodging the money, the same may be postponed until such money is paid out of the Public Trust Office, when the said charge shall be deducted from such money and all accumulations thereof (if any): £1 per cent.
