then and in any of the said cases this Order in Council and every license, right, power, or privilege may be revoked and determined by the Governor in Council without any notice to the licensees or other proceeding whatsoever; and publication in the New Zealand Gazette of an Order in Council containing such revocation shall be sufficient notice to the licensees, and to all persons concerned or interested, that this Order in Council and the license, rights, and privileges thereby granted and conferred have been revoked and determined.
- In these conditions the term “Minister” means the Minister having charge of the Marine Department, as defined by “The Shipping and Seamen’s Act, 1877,” and includes any officer, person, or authority acting by or under the direction of such Minister.

Extending the Close Season for Seals.

ORDER IN COUNCIL.
At the Government House, at Wellington, this eighteenth day of December, 1888.

WHEREAS by “The Fisheries Conservation Act, 1884” (hereinafter termed “the said Act”), it is, among other things, enacted that the Governor in Council may from time to time make, alter, and revoke regulations for the purposes therein mentioned, which said regulations shall have force and effect only in any waters or places specified therein:
And whereas by Order in Council dated the eleventh day of September, one thousand eight hundred and eighty-eight, certain regulations were made in exercise and pursuance of the powers conferred by the said Act, prescribing a close season for seals:
And whereas it is expedient to extend such close season for seals:
Now, therefore, His Excellency the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, in exercise and pursuance of the powers conferred upon him by the said Act, and by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council of the said Colony, doth hereby make the following regulation:—
The close season for seals prescribed by Order in Council dated the eleventh day of September, one thousand eight hundred and eighty-eight, is hereby extended until the thirty-first day of December, one thousand eight hundred and eighty-nine; and this regulation shall have force and effect in the Colony of New Zealand, and in all salt, fresh, and brackish waters of the said colony, and on all shores of such waters and any part thereof, or that may be contiguous or adjacent to such waters.
This regulation shall extend to and include seals of any species whatever.

Native Land to be taken for Road Purposes in the Masterton Road District.

At the Government House, at Wellington, this thirtieth day of October, 1888.

WHEREAS the land mentioned in the Schedule hereto is required to be taken for a public road to be constructed by the Masterton Road Board: And whereas the said land is Native land, and the title to same is not derived from the Crown:
Now, therefore, in pursuance and exercise of the powers vested in him by “The Public Works Acts Amendment Act, 1887,” and of all other powers in anywise enabling him in this behalf, His Excellency Sir William Francis Drummond Jervois, the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council of the said colony, doth hereby order that a public road, as shown on the plan mentioned below, may be constructed on or through the parcel of land more particularly mentioned in the Schedule hereto.

WHEREAS by the two hundred and twenty-seventh section of “The Land Act, 1885,” it is enacted that the Governor may from time to time, either by general or particular description, and whether the same has been surveyed or not, reserve from sale temporarily, notwithstanding that the same may be then held under pastoral license, any Crown lands which in his opinion are required for any of the purposes in the said section mentioned:
Now, therefore, I, William Francis Drummond Jervois, the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, in exercise and pursuance of the powers and authorities vested in me by the said Act, do hereby temporarily reserve from sale the land in the Land Districts of Auckland, Hawke’s Bay, Wellington, Canterbury, Southland, and Westland, described in the Schedule hereunder written, for the purposes in the said Schedule specified.
SCHEDULE.
AUCKLAND.
All that parcel of land in the Land District of Auckland, being Section No. 1, Block VI., Tauranga Survey District, situate at the eastern headland of Tauranga Harbour, containing by admeasurement 195 acres, more or less. Bounded towards the south-east generally by a public road 400 links, by Section No. 2, Pilot Reserve, 450, 484, and 447 links, by a public road 459, 202, 468, 317, 1006, and 120 links to high-water mark; thence on all other sides by the sea: be all the aforesaid linkages more or less; excepting from the above Sections Nos. 3 and 12, Block VI., aforesaid. For recreation.
HAWKE’S BAY.
All that parcel of land in the Land District of Hawke’s Bay, containing by admeasurement 16 acres 3 roods 22 perches, more or less, being Section No. 30A, Block XIV., Pohui Survey District. Bounded towards the north by Section No. 30 of Block XIV., and Block XLIV., Pohui Survey District, 2018·4 links; towards the east by Section No. 11, Patoka Survey District, 836·4 links; towards the south by Section No. 29, Block XIV., Pohui Survey District, 2020·7 links; and towards the west by a public road, 836·3 links: be all the aforesaid linkages more or less; as the same is delineated on the plan deposited in the office of the Chief Surveyor, Napier. For a school-site.
All that parcel of land in the Land District of Hawke’s Bay, containing by admeasurement 11 acres 3 roods 16 perches, more or less, being Section No. 30, Block XIV., Pohui Survey District. Bounded towards the east by Block XLIV., Pohui Survey District, 2121·3 links; towards the south by Section No. 30A, Block XIV., Pohui Survey District, 1160·4 links; and towards the west and north-west by a public road, 249·7, 571, and 1665·4 links: be all the aforesaid linkages more or less; as the same is delineated on the plan deposited in the office of the Chief Surveyor, Napier. For a recreation reserve.
WELLINGTON.
All that parcel of land in the Land District of Wellington, containing by admeasurement 8 acres 2 roods 29 perches, more or less, being Section No. 10, Block XIII., Ongo Survey District. Bounded on the north-east, south-east, and south by public roads; and on the north-west by the Rangitikei River: as the same is delineated on the plan deposited in the office of the Chief Surveyor, Wellington. For a school-site.
