NOTICE is hereby given that the following is the result of a poll, taken on the 17th November, 1888, on a proposal to borrow £635 from the Government for metalling roads in the Campbell Riding, apportioned as under:—

Ratepayers on roll, 82; votes exercisable on the roll, 91. Number of ratepayers who voted for the proposal, 54; number of votes recorded in favour of the proposal, 54; against, nil; informal, 2.

As a majority in number of the ratepayers voted in favour of the proposal, and the number so voting are entitled to more than one-half the number of votes that can be exercised by the whole number of ratepayers, I do hereby declare the proposal carried.

Ratepayers on roll, 47; votes exercisable on the roll, 69. Number of ratepayers who voted for the proposal, 27; number of votes recorded in favour of the proposal, 40; against, nil.

As a majority in number of the ratepayers voted in favour of the proposal, and the number so voting are entitled to more than one-half the number of votes that can be exercised by the whole number of ratepayers, I do hereby declare the proposal carried.

THE following special order, made by the Castelpoint Road Board, is published in accordance with "The Road Boards Act, 1882."

SPECIAL ORDER.

THAT a special order be made, in accordance with section 75 of "The Road Boards Act, 1882," for the following purpose, namely: That, to secure payment of the interest and annual charges on a loan of £800, granted to the Board under "The Government Loans to Local Bodies Act, 1886," for forming and metalling a portion of the Uriti Road, from the Langdale Woolshed to its junction with the Masterton-Waimata Road in Mangapakeha, a special rate of one halfpenny in the pound be made and levied on the following sections, viz., 266, 267, 732, Block II., 241, 242, 259, 262, 263, 288, 308, 258, 336, 337, 338, 342, 343, 738, Block III., 339, 340, 341, 806, Block IV., Rewa Survey District, and Sections 733, 734, Block XIV., 243, 244, 255, 256, 257, 736, 737, Block XV., Mangapakeha Survey District. Such special rate shall be an annually-recurring rate, and will be paid in two half-yearly instalments for a period of twenty-six years, the first half-yearly payment to be made on the 1st day of February, and the second payment on the 1st day of August, 1889, at the office of the Board, and on the same days in each year until the debt is liquidated.

THAT, in consequence of the rapid settlement of the Crown lands in the Kiwitea Road Board District, the subdivisions or wards be increased to nine, by subdividing the Waituna and Pohangina Wards, thus creating four new subdivisions, to be named Ongo, Hautapu, Apiti, and Ruahine, to be represented by one member each. The boundaries of the new and altered subdivisions to be as set forth below:—

WAITUNA WARD.—Bounded towards the north by the northern boundary of Sections Nos. 284, 285, 286, 287, and 288, Block XIV., Ongo Survey District, Nos. 289, 290, 291, 292, 293, 294, 295, the abuttal of a public road, Sections Nos.
