Result of Poll for Proposed Loan, Upper Wangaehu Road Board, County of Wanganui.

THE following notice, received from the Chairman of the Upper Wangaehu Road Board, is published in accordance with "The Local Bodies' Loans Act, 1886."

NOTICE of result of poll on proposal to borrow £100, under the provisions of "The Local Bodies' Loans Act, 1886," to provide funds sufficient for the proper completion of a bridge across the Wangaehu River to Section 9, Heao Block, Mangawhero Survey District. Special rating district being that portion of the Upper Wangaehu Road District contained within the boundaries of Sections 5, 6, 7, 8, and 9, Heao Block, Mangawhero Survey District. Poll held at Mangamahu, on Saturday, the 29th September, 1888:—
Total number of ratepayers on roll, 2, representing 5 votes. Votes recorded for proposal, 5; number of ratepayers voting for the proposal, 2; votes against, nil; number of ratepayers voting against the proposal, nil; informal, nil; votes not recorded, nil; total number against, nil.
As a majority in number of the ratepayers voted in favour of the proposal, and the number so voting are entitled to more than one-half of the votes which can be exercised by the whole number of ratepayers, I do hereby declare the proposal to be carried.

Sheep District of Auckland declared clean, and Miranda and Waikawau infected.—Notice No. 260.

HIS Excellency the Governor has been pleased to declare the Auckland Sheep District to be a clean sheep district, and the Miranda Sheep District and the Waikawau Sheep District to be infected sheep districts, under "The Sheep Act, 1878."

Auckland Girls' Industrial School.

NOTICE is hereby given that the Auckland Girls' Industrial School, now maintained at Walmsley House, Kent Street, Auckland, will, from this date, be maintained in the building known as Beach House, situate in St. George's Bay Road, Parnell, and that the use of the said Walmsley House for industrial-school purposes will hereafter be discontinued.

MORETON BAY.—BUOYS LAID DOWN IN FREEMAN'S CHANNEL.
NOTICE is hereby given that two red buoys are now laid in Freeman's Channel.
Vessels entering will pass midway between the eastern buoy and the beach, and a ship's length inside of the western buoy.
The depth at low-water springs is at present 12ft. Any change will be notified upon the board at the Port Office, as formerly.

PORT PHILLIP BAY.—SORRENTO CHANNEL.
PILOTS, masters of vessels, and others are hereby notified that a 350-gallon black-cask buoy has been placed on the east bank, off Point King, in 8ft. 3in. low water, 250ft. E.N.E. from the present white buoy.
Masters of vessels proceeding to Sorrento Jetty by the western entrance will find a channel, 10ft. deep at low-water springs, by keeping a line leading from midway between the above-mentioned buoys and the outer end of the Sorrento Jetty.

NORTH COAST OF AUSTRALIA.—UNMARKED REEF.
CAPTAIN PETERSEN, of the barque "Vivid," reports that during a voyage from Newcastle to Port Darwin his vessel grazed on an unknown reef, with 17ft. of water on it.
Approximate position: Latitude 10° 51' south, longitude 132° 8' east; Point Smith bearing S. ⅓ E., and Point Danger S.E. ⅓ S.

PORT ADELAIDE RIVER.
NOTICE is hereby given that the No. 6 Light Beacon, which was removed in connection with deepening operations, has been replaced about 400ft. south of its former position, and the light is again exhibited.
The No. 7 Light Beacon will be removed about 400ft. north-west of its present position. A temporary light will be exhibited from a dredger or, when the dredger is absent, from a pontoon moored in the place now occupied by the beacon.

GULF OF ST. VINCENT.—PORT ADELAIDE.—SEMAPHORE ANCHORAGE.—REMOVAL OF HULK.
NOTICE is hereby given that the hulk "Beatrice" (used in the place of the "Fitzjames") was removed on the 1st instant to a position N. ⅖ W., seven-tenths of a mile from the outer end of the Semaphore Jetty, and S.W. by W. ⅘ W., three-tenths of a mile from the Largs Jetty. The hulk, in one with the smelting-works chimney, will lead up to the mooring buoy.
A red light, visible about four miles, will be exhibited from the "Beatrice" until further notice.

PORT ADELAIDE.—SEMAPHORE ANCHORAGE.
To prevent damage to telephone cables, masters and pilots of vessels using the semaphore anchorage are cautioned against anchoring anywhere in a line between the telephone buoy and the outer end of Largs Pier, or between the mooring and the telephone buoys, where the cables are laid.
