Boards or other proceeding whatsoever, and publication in
the New Zealand Gazette of an Order in Council containing
such revocation shall be sufficient notice to the said Boards,
and to all persons concerned or interested of the fact of such
revocation.
- In these conditions the term "Minister" means the
Minister having charge of the Marine Department, as de-
fined by "The Shipping and Seamen's Act, 1877," and in-
cludes any officer, person, or authority acting by or under
the direction of such Minister.

ORDER IN COUNCIL.
At the Government House, at Wellington, this twenty-
fifth day of September, 1888.
Present:
HIS EXCELLENCY THE GOVERNOR IN COUNCIL.
IN pursuance and exercise of the powers and authorities
vested in him by section five of "The River Boards Act
Amendment Act, 1883," His Excellency the Governor of the
Colony of New Zealand, by and with the advice and consent
of the Executive Council of the said colony, doth hereby
order and declare that a general election of the members of
the Otautau River Board shall be held on Saturday, the
twenty-seventh day of October, one thousand eight hundred
and eighty-eight, at the Schoolhouse, at Otautau; and doth
hereby appoint Timothy Booth to be Returning Officer
to conduct the said election; and, further, that the first
meeting of the members of the said Board shall be held at
noon on Saturday, the third day of November, one thousand
eight hundred and eighty-eight, at the aforesaid School-
house, at Otautau.

Extending Time for holding Special Meeting, Amuri and
Clifton County Councils.

ORDER IN COUNCIL.
At the Government House, at Wellington, this twenty-
fifth day of September, 1888.
Present:
HIS EXCELLENCY THE GOVERNOR IN COUNCIL.
WHEREAS by section one hundred and eighty-four of
"The Counties Act, 1886," it is enacted that each
County Council shall hold a special meeting to consider the
balance-sheet and statements of county accounts during the
month of May in each year: And whereas the balance-
sheet and statement of accounts of the Counties of Amuri
and Clifton were not forwarded to the Chairmen of the
Councils of the said counties by the Auditor until after the
thirty-first day of May last past, and have not been con-
sidered by the said County Councils, and it is therefore ex-
pedient to extend the time within which a special meeting
for the aforesaid purpose can be held:
Now, therefore, His Excellency the Governor of the Colony
of New Zealand, in exercise and pursuance of the powers
vested in him by the said "Counties Act, 1886," and by and
with the advice and consent of the Executive Council of
the said colony, doth hereby extend the time for holding a
special meeting of the Amuri and Clifton County Councils
for the purpose of considering the balance-sheet and state-
ment of accounts of the county, and doth declare that the
said special meeting may be held on or before the thirty-
first day of October, one thousand eight hundred and eighty-
eight.

WHEREAS the Trustees of the Masterton Town Lands,
being a leasing authority within the meaning of
"The Public Bodies' Powers Act, 1887" (hereinafter termed
"the said Act"), has requested that these presents should
issue, and it appears expedient to make the order herein-
after contained:
Now, therefore, His Excellency the Governor of the
Colony of New Zealand, in exercise and pursuance of the
powers conferred upon him by the said Act, and by and with
the advice and consent of the Executive Council of the said
colony, doth hereby order and declare that the Trustees of
the Masterton Town Lands shall, as from the date of the
publication hereof in the New Zealand Gazette, be subject
to the provisions of the said Act, excepting sections twelve,
fourteen, fifteen, and sixteen.

Terms and Conditions of Sale or Selection of Village-set-
tlement Small-farm Allotments in the Taranaki, Canter-
bury, and Otago Land Districts.

ORDER IN COUNCIL.
At the Government House, at Wellington, this twenty-
fifth day of September, 1888.
Present:
HIS EXCELLENCY THE GOVERNOR IN COUNCIL.
WHEREAS by the one hundred and sixty-seventh
section of "The Land Act, 1885," it is enacted that
the Governor in Council may fix the terms and conditions
upon which the lands comprised in any village settlement
shall be disposed of, and the mode of payment for the same:
And whereas His Excellency the Governor of the Colony
of New Zealand has, by Proclamation issued under the
provisions of section one hundred and sixty-six of the said
Act and the fourteenth section of "The Land Acts Amend-
ment Act, 1888," set apart the lands enumerated in the
Schedule hereto as village settlements:
Now, therefore, His Excellency the Governor of the Colony
of New Zealand, in pursuance and exercise of the powers
and authorities conferred upon him by the hereinbefore in
part recited Act, and by and with the advice of the Executive
Council thereof, doth hereby fix the following as the terms
and conditions upon which the village settlements enume-
rated in the Schedule hereto shall be disposed of, and the
mode of payment for the same, that is to say,β

The lands enumerated in the Schedule hereto shall be
open as small-farm allotments for sale or selection either
for cash, or on deferred payments, or on perpetual lease. -
The day upon which the lands shall be open for sale or
selection shall be Wednesday, the fourteenth day of Novem-
ber, one thousand eight hundred and eighty-eight. -
The purchaser for cash of any of the lands enumerated
in the Schedule hereto must deposit with the Receiver of
Land Revenue for the land district one-fourth of the
purchase-money at the time of application, and shall pay
the whole remainder of the purchase-money within thirty
days of the granting of his application, and if not paid
within thirty days his deposit shall be forfeited, and the
lands shall be again open for sale or occupation forthwith,
and upon full payment of the purchase-money he will be
entitled to a Crown grant, to be issued in the usual way. -
If any of the lands enumerated in the Schedule hereto
are selected upon deferred payments, the selector shall be
subject to the provisions relating to Part III. of "The Land
Act, 1885." -
If any of the lands enumerated in the Schedule hereto
are selected under the perpetual-leasing system, the se-
lector shall be subject to the provisions of Part IV. of "The
Land Act, 1885." -
The prices stated in the Schedule hereto shall be the
prices at which the lands shall be open for sale for cash.
If the lands are selected on deferred payments, an addition
of one-fourth to the cash price of the section will be made;
and, if the lands are selected for perpetual leasing, the
annual rental of the sections will be five per cent. on the cash
price of the sections. -
If there shall be more than one application for any
allotment, the right to occupy the same shall be determined
by lot amongst the applicants. -
Each applicant for a deferred-payment section will be
required to make the declaration prescribed by section one
hundred and thirteen of "The Land Act, 1885," and shall at
the time of application deposit with the Receiver of Land
Revenue for the land district one-twentieth of the price
if the allotment is over twenty acres, and one-tenth if it
is under that area; such payment shall be deemed to be a
discharge of the license-fee for the six months due on the
next first day of January or July following the date of the
