Alteration of the Boundaries of Wards of the Borough of Wellington, under “The Municipal Corporations Act, 1886.”

A PROCLAMATION.
WHEREAS by section twenty-eight of “The Municipal Corporations Act, 1886,” it is provided that, if not less than one-fourth of the burgesses of each ward of a divided borough petition the Governor to alter the boundaries of wards or to redivide the borough into other wards, the Governor may, by Proclamation, alter the boundaries of any wards, or may redivide the borough into new wards, with such names and boundaries as he thinks fit :
And whereas not less than one-fourth of the burgesses of each ward of the divided borough of the City of Wellington have petitioned me to alter the boundaries of such wards :
Now, therefore, I, William Francis Drummond Jervois, the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, in pursuance and exercise of the hereinbefore recited authority, do hereby proclaim and declare that the boundaries of each of the wards of the said borough shall be those respectively described in the Schedule hereto.
SCHEDULE.
CITY OF WELLINGTON.
Thorndon Ward comprises all that portion of the City of Wellington bounded towards the west, north, and east respectively by the western, northern, and eastern boundary-lines of the City of Wellington, as defined in the Schedule to “The Wellington City Boundaries Act, 1878,” from the north-western corner of Section No. 28 (Upland Farm), Block VI., Port Nicholson Survey District, to a point in line with a line drawn along the middle of Whitmore Street; thence towards the south-west by a right line to and across Waterloo Quay and along the middle of Whitmore Street, and by that line produced to the middle of Lambton Quay; thence towards the north-west by a line along the middle of Lambton Quay to a point in line with a line drawn along the middle of Bowen Street; thence towards the south by a right line to and along the middle of Bowen Street and that line produced to the middle of Mowbray Street; thence towards the south-east generally by a line along the middle of Mowbray Street, and by that line continued along the middle of Bolton Street and Botanical Gardens Road respectively to Upland Farm; and thence again towards the south by the boundary-line of the City of Wellington aforesaid to the point of commencement.
Lambton Ward comprises all that portion of the City of Wellington bounded towards the north-west and north-east generally by Thorndon Ward, hereinbefore described, from Upland Farm to Lambton Harbour; thence towards the east by part of the eastern boundary-line of the City of Wellington, as defined in section 2 of “The Wellington City Boundaries Act, 1878,” and in the Schedule to the said Act, to a point in line with a line drawn along the middle of Cuba Street; thence towards the east by a right line to and along the middle of Cuba Street to the middle of Abel Smith Street; thence towards the south by a line along the middle of Abel Smith Street to a point in line with the western boundary-line of Town Acre No. 431; thence towards the west by a right line to the south-western corner of the said Town Acre No. 431; thence by the western boundary-lines of Town Acres Nos. 431, 432, 433, 434, 435, and 436 to the south-eastern corner of Town-belt Section No. 48; thence again towards the south by the southern boundary-line of that section to Upland Farm; and thence again towards the west by part of the western boundary-line of the City of Wellington aforesaid to the point of commencement.
Te Aro Ward comprises all that portion of the City of Wellington bounded towards the north and east, and again towards the north and towards the west, by Lambton Ward, hereinbefore described, from Upland Farm to the northern boundary-line of the City of Wellington, as defined in the Schedule to “The Wellington City Boundaries Act, 1878;” thence again towards the north by part of the said northern boundary-line of the City of Wellington to a point in line with a line drawn along the middle of Tory Street; thence towards the east by a right line to and along the middle of Tory Street, and by that line produced to the middle of Buckle Street; thence again towards the north by a line along the middle of the latter street to a point in line with a line drawn along the middle of the street forming the western side of Sussex Square; thence again towards the east and north by a right line to and along the last-mentioned street to a point in line with a line drawn along the middle of Adelaide Road; thence towards the north-east by a right line to and along the middle of Adelaide Road to a line drawn along the middle of Riddiford Street; thence by a line along the middle of the last-mentioned street, and by that line continued along the middle of Russell Terrace to
