Borough Council Office, Petone, to be the place, at which the

Notice of Proposed Loan, Borough of East Invercargill.

THE following notice, received from His Worship the
Mayor of East Invercargill, is published in accordance
with “The Municipal Corporations Act, 1886.”

Borough of East Invercargill.—Result of Poll for
Special Loan of £3,000.
I HEREBY notify that, at a poll held on the 24th day of
August, 1888, in accordance with the provisions of “The
Municipal Corporations Act, 1886,”—to ascertain whether a
majority in the number of burgesses, as also in number of
votes, were in favour of a proposal passed at a meeting of
the Borough Council, held on the 18th day of June, 1888, to
borrow a sum of £3,000 for the purpose of paying off the
balance of existing loans, and for drainage, and for construc-
tion of streets and footpaths, pledging as security for the
said loan the moneys from time to time to arise from a
special rate of 1s. in the pound on all rateable property
within the borough to meet the interest,—the number of
votes recorded for the said proposal was 103, against 5. I do
therefore hereby declare the resolution to be duly carried.

Result of Poll for Proposed Loan, County of Horowhenua.

THE following notice, received from the Chairman of the
Horowhenua County Council, is published in accord-
ance with “The Local Bodies' Loans Act, 1886.”

Notice is hereby given that the result of the poll on the
proposal to borrow £6,000 from the Colonial Treasurer for
the purpose of constructing the main county road through
the Wirokino Riding of the above county is as follows:—
Ratepayers on roll, 84; votes exercisable on the roll, 113.
Number of ratepayers who voted for the proposal, 45; num-
ber of votes recorded in favour of the proposal, 69; number
of ratepayers who voted against the proposal, nil.
As a majority in number of the ratepayers voted in favour
of the proposal, and the number so voting are entitled to
more than one-half the number of votes that can be exer-
cised by the whole number of ratepayers, I do hereby declare
the proposal carried.

Alterations in and Additions to the Scale of Charges in
force on the New Zealand Railways.
IN accordance with section 144 of “The Public Works
Act, 1882,” I, Edwin Mitchelson, the Minister for
Public Works, do hereby make the following alterations in
and additions to the scale of charges, to come into force
from and after the 10th day of September, 1888:—
PART IV.—LOCAL RATES.
WANGANUI AND WELLINGTON SECTIONS.
Dead meat consigned by way of the Manawatu Railway
Company's line to Wellington, or to stations on the Welling-
ton Section, from stations on the Wanganui Section, will be
charged as Class D upon the Government Railway. Mini-
mum, 2 tons.
As witness my hand, this third day of September,
one thousand eight hundred and eighty-eight.
