Extending Time for holding Special Meeting, Horowhenua, Grey, and Akaroa County Councils.

ORDER IN COUNCIL.
At the Government House, at Wellington, this twenty-first day of August, 1888.

His Excellency the Governor in Council.
WHEREAS by section one hundred and eighty-four of “The Counties Act, 1886,” it is enacted that each County Council shall hold a special meeting to consider the balance-sheet and statements of county accounts during the month of May in each year: And whereas the balance-sheet and statement of accounts of the Counties of Horowhenua, Grey, and Akaroa were not forwarded to the Chairmen of the Councils of the said Counties by the Auditor until after the thirty-first day of May last past, and have not been considered by the said County Councils, and it is therefore expedient to extend the time within which a special meeting for the aforesaid purpose can be held :
Now, therefore, His Excellency the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, in exercise and pursuance of the powers vested in him by the said “Counties Act, 1886,” and by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council of the said colony, doth hereby extend the time for holding a special meeting of the Horowhenua, Grey, and Akaroa County Councils for the purpose of considering the balance-sheet and statement of accounts of each of the said counties, and doth declare that the said special meetings may be held on or before the thirty-first day of August, one thousand eight hundred and eighty-eight.

ORDER IN COUNCIL.

WHEREAS by section fourteen of “The Public Works Act, 1882,” it is enacted that, if it is found that any land held, taken, purchased, or acquired at any time under that Act, or any other Act or provincial ordinance, or otherwise however, for public works, is not required for public use, the Governor may, by an Order in Council, publicly notified and gazetted, cause the same to be sold under the conditions therein set forth: And whereas the Minister for Public Works has laid before the Governor the memorial referred to in the section aforesaid, praying the Governor, by an Order in Council, to cause such land to be sold :
Now, therefore, I, William Francis Drummond Jervois, the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council of the said colony, and in exercise and pursuance of the powers and authorities aforesaid, do hereby order and authorise the land described in the Schedule hereto to be sold and dealt with in the manner and subject to the conditions of the fourteenth and following sections of the above in part recited Act.

IN pursuance and exercise of the powers and authorities conferred upon me by the third section of “The Land Act Amendment Act, 1887” (hereinafter termed “the said Act”), I, William Francis Drummond Jervois, the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, having received the report of the Surveyor-General in this behalf, as in the said section is provided, do hereby declare that the rural lands enumerated in the Schedule to the Proclamation of even date herewith shall be open for sale or selection, after the lapse of a period of forty-five days from the date of the first public notification hereof, in the manner and upon the conditions mentioned in the said Act, and at the price per acre respectively set opposite such land in the said Schedule.
As witness the hand of His Excellency the Governor, this sixteenth day of August, one thousand eight hundred and eighty-eight.

IN exercise of the powers vested in me by “The Animals Protection Act, 1880,” I, William Francis Drummond Jervois, the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, do hereby declare that from and after the date hereof the bird known as the kaka (Nestor meridionalis) shall come within the operation of the said Act as fully and effectively as if it had been included in the Fourth Schedule thereto.
As witness the hand of His Excellency the Governor, this seventeenth day of August, one thousand eight hundred and eighty-eight.
