ALL that parcel of land in the Hawkins Survey District, Provincial District of Canterbury, containing by admeasurement 10 acres, more or less, being part of Reserve No. 1751 (in red). Bounded north-east by the continuation of Creyke Street, in the Horndon Township, 692 links; south-east by Maxwell Street, 1050 links; south-west by the continuation of Railway Terrace North, 1212·8 links; and north-west by a line at right angles to south-west boundary, 1050 links: be all the aforesaid linkages more or less; and numbered 2635 (in red) on the official map in the Survey Office, Christchurch.

ORDER IN COUNCIL.
At the Government House, at Wellington, this fourteenth day of July, 1888.
Present:
His Excellency the Governor in Council.
IN exercise and pursuance of the powers and authorities vested in him by “The Public Domains Act, 1881,” His Excellency the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council thereof, doth hereby revoke a certain Order in Council, dated the first day of February, one thousand eight hundred and eighty-seven, making delegation of certain powers in manner as therein appears; and doth, with the like advice and consent, by this present order, delegate, but only with respect to the piece or parcel of land described in the Schedule hereto, all the powers conferred by the Act aforesaid, except the powers under or conferred by sections five and twelve thereof, to the under-mentioned persons, who shall be known as the Kimberley Public Domain Board, namely,—

CHARLES McCAUSLAND,
JAMES MANSON,
HUGH KENNEDY COWAN, and
ALEXANDER HAY
(herein referred to as “the Board”), subject to the stipulations hereinafter contained, that is to say,—

The Board shall meet for the transaction of business on the second Monday in each month, at eight o’clock p.m., at the Schoolroom, Kimberley, or at such other time or place as may from time to time be fixed by the Board. The first meeting shall be held on Monday, the thirteenth day of August, one thousand eight hundred and eighty-eight.

Special meetings may be convened by the Chairman or by any two members of the Board, provided that two days’ notice of such meeting be given to each member, specifying the business to be transacted at such special meeting, and no other business than that so specified shall be transacted at such meeting.

Any three of the said Board shall form a quorum. Any meeting may be adjourned from time to time.

The members of the Board shall, at their first meeting, and thereafter at an annual meeting to be held on the first Monday in January in every succeeding year thereafter, elect one of themselves to be Chairman, who may join in the discussion, and shall have an original as well as a casting vote. The Chairman shall hold office until the election of his successor.

If at any meeting the Chairman is not present at the time appointed for holding the same, the members present shall choose some one of their number to be Chairman of such meeting.

If, by resignation, death, or incapacity, or otherwise, the office of Chairman shall be or become vacant, the members may at any monthly or special meeting appoint a Chairman.

SCHEDULE.
ALL that piece or parcel of land in the Hawkins Survey District, Provincial District of Canterbury, being Section No. 1566 (in red), and containing 14 acres, more or less, having 14 chains frontage to the road forming the northern boundary of Section No. 14701, and extending southerly 10 chains in a rectangular block, the north-east corner being 9 chains west of the north-west corner of Section No. 14701.

Notice of Intention to change the Purpose of a Reserve at Queenstown, Otago.

WHEREAS by “The Public Reserves Act, 1881,” it is, amongst other things, enacted that the Governor may declare his intention to make, change, exchange, or alter the dedication of any public reserve now or hereafter vested in Her Majesty or the Governor for any of the purposes named in Class II. of the Schedule to the said Act, whether the same be granted or not; and, in the case of any reserves made under the authority of section two hundred and twenty-seven of “The Land Act, 1885,” if it shall, in the opinion of the Governor, be expedient to change the purpose of such reserves or any part thereof from the purpose or presumed purpose for which it was set apart to any other purpose, or if it shall, in the opinion of the Governor, be expedient to exchange any of the land comprised in such reserve for other land of equal value, to be dedicated to one or more purposes named in the said Class II., the Governor may, by notice in the Gazette, declare his intention to make such change, exchange, or dedication, as the case may be, and in such notice declare the manner and terms in which the same is intended to be so made:
Now, therefore, I, William Francis Drummond Jervois, the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, do hereby, in exercise and pursuance of the powers and authorities vested in me by “The Public Reserves Act, 1881,” aforesaid, declare my intention to change the specific purpose of the reserve described in the first column of the Schedule hereto to the specific purpose set opposite such description in the second column of the said Schedule.

HIS Excellency the Governor directs it to be notified that a despatch has been received from the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the French Republic announcing that the jurisdiction of the Vice-Consulate of France at Wellington has been extended to the whole Colony of New Zealand, and that the Consular Agents for France at Auckland, Christchurch, and Dunedin have been removed from the control of the French Consul at Sydney, and placed under the direction of the Vice-Consul for New Zealand.
