Extending the Close Season for Seals.

ORDER IN COUNCIL.
At the Government House, at Wellington, this thirteenth day of January, 1888.
Present:
HIS EXCELLENCY THE GOVERNOR IN COUNCIL.
WHEREAS by “The Fisheries Conservation Act, 1884” (hereinafter termed “the said Act”), it is, among other things, enacted that the Governor in Council may from time to time make, alter, and revoke regulations for the purposes therein mentioned, which said regulations shall have force and effect only in any waters or places specified therein:
And whereas by Order in Council dated the tenth day of January, one thousand eight hundred and eighty-eight, certain regulations were made, in exercise and pursuance of the powers conferred by the said Act, among other things, prescribing a close season for seals:
And whereas it is expedient to extend such close season for seals:
Now, therefore, His Excellency the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, in exercise and pursuance of the powers conferred upon him by the said Act, and by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council of the said colony, doth hereby make the following regulation:—
The close season for seals prescribed by Order in Council dated the tenth day of January, one thousand eight hundred and eighty-eight, is hereby extended until the first day of June, one thousand eight hundred and eighty-nine; and this regulation shall have force and effect in the Colony of New Zealand, and in all salt, fresh, and brackish waters of the said colony, and on all shores of such waters and any part thereof, or that may be contiguous or adjacent to such waters.
The regulations made by Order in Council on the tenth instant and this regulation shall extend to and include seals of any species whatever.

ORDER IN COUNCIL.

HIS EXCELLENCY THE GOVERNOR IN COUNCIL.
WHEREAS the land mentioned in the Schedule hereto is required to be taken for a public work authorised to be constructed by the Government, to wit, the North Island Main Trunk Railway, from a point at or near Marton to Te Awamutu, via Murimotu, Taumaranui, and the Ongaruhe River Valley:
And whereas the said land is held or occupied by Native owners:
Now, therefore, in pursuance and exercise of the powers vested in him by “The Public Works, Act, 1882,” and the amendments thereof, and of all other powers in anywise enabling him in this behalf, His Excellency Sir William Francis Drummond Jervois, the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council of the said colony, doth hereby order that the Government work known as the North Island Main Trunk Railway, from a point at or near Marton to Te Awamutu, via Murimotu, Taumaranui, and the Ongaruhe River Valley, shall and may be constructed on or through the parcels of land more particularly mentioned in the Schedule hereto.

Fixing Sitings of the District Courts of Nelson, Westland, Ashburton, Timaru and Oamaru, Otago Goldfields, and Western Otago.

IN pursuance and exercise of the power and authority in this behalf enabling me, I, William Francis Drummond Jervois, the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, do hereby fix and appoint that sittings of the District Courts of Nelson, Westland, Ashburton, Timaru and Oamaru, Otago Goldfields, and Western Otago, for civil and criminal business, shall be held as follows, from and after the first day of March next, in lieu of those previously fixed and appointed:—
NELSON DISTRICT.
For civil and criminal business, in the Courthouse, Nelson, on the 5th April, 14th June, 6th August, 11th October, and 17th December.
WESTLAND DISTRICT.
For civil and criminal business, in the Courthouse, Westport, on the 1st May, 15th August, and 18th October.
For civil and criminal business, in the Courthouse, Reefton, on the 4th May, 20th August, and 22nd October.
For civil and criminal business, in the Courthouse, Greymouth, on the 7th May, 23rd August, and 25th October.
For civil and criminal business, in the Courthouse, Hokitika, on the 10th May, 27th August, 29th October.
ASHBURTON DISTRICT.
For civil business, in the Courthouse, Ashburton, on the 9th March, 17th May, 13th July, 14th September, and 16th November.
TIMARU AND OAMARU DISTRICT.
For civil business, in the Courthouse, Timaru, on the 21st May, 16th July, and 19th November; and for civil and criminal business, on the 12th March and 17th September.
For civil business, in the Courthouse, Oamaru, on the 23rd March, 23rd May, 20th September, and 22nd November; and for civil and criminal business, on the 19th July.
OTAGO GOLDFIELDS DISTRICT.
For civil and criminal business, in the Courthouse, Lawrence, on the 24th July.
For civil and criminal business, in the Courthouse, Queenstown, on the 16th March and 25th September.
WESTERN OTAGO DISTRICT.
For civil business, in the Courthouse, Invercargill, on the 29th May and 28th September; and for civil and criminal business, on the 20th March, 27th July, and 27th November.
Provided that in case any of the days so fixed as aforesaid shall happen to be a holiday, then the Court appointed for that day shall be holden on the first day thereafter not being a holiday.
As witness the hand of His Excellency the Governor, this fourteenth day of January, one thousand eight hundred and eighty-eight.

Vaccination Districts constituted.

IN pursuance and exercise of the powers vested in the Governor by “The Public Health Act, 1876,” I, William Francis Drummond Jervois, the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, do hereby abolish the existing vaccination districts known as the Thames and Tauranga Districts; and do declare that the territory heretofore comprised within the said districts is hereby divided anew into three vaccination districts, the names whereof shall be the Thames, Ohinemuri, and Tauranga Districts, and the boundaries whereof shall be coterminous with the boundaries of the marriage districts bearing the same names as are set forth in a Proclamation of even date herewith, made under the provisions of “The Marriage Act, 1880.”
As witness the hand of His Excellency the Governor, this fourteenth day of January, one thousand eight hundred and eighty-eight.
