Notice of Hearing of Applications for Patents.

Patent Office,
Wellington, 2nd July, 1888.

NO. 3082.—EDWARD SEITZ, of 16, Market Buildings, Melbourne, Victoria, Engineer, and SIBBIT LANDELLS, of Collins Street West, in the said city, Importers’ Agent, have deposited at this office a specification of an invention for an improved machine for cleaning streets.

No. 3083.—GUSTAV FORSTER, of Halcombe, Wellington, New Zealand, has deposited at this office a specification of an invention for coating, painting, or dipping butter casks, kegs, firkins, or boxes with glue, glycerine, or any other ingredient for outside covering.

No. 3085.—CARL AUGUST FUNKE, of Panmure, Auckland, New Zealand, Tanner and Fellmonger, has deposited at this office a specification of an invention for improved brown leather.

No. 3086.—JOHN HIGGINSON GARRETT, of Tararu, Thames, Auckland, New Zealand, Mining Engineer, has deposited at this office a specification of an invention for holding pencils while in use, combined with penholder, and called “The Improved Combined Pencil and Penholder.”

No. 3087.—PHILIP BOND, of Port Chalmers, Otago, New Zealand, has deposited at this office a specification of an invention for Philip Bond’s simple boat-lowering apparatus.

No. 3088.—THOMAS DANKS, of Christchurch, Canterbury, New Zealand, Engineer, has deposited at this office a specification of an invention for driving artesian wells and other purposes, to be called “The Canterbury Well-driving Machine.”

And I have appointed Tuesday, the 20th day of November next, at 11 o’clock in the forenoon, at this office, to hear the said applications and all objections thereto; and I require all persons having an interest in opposing the grant of any such Letters Patent to leave, on or before the 5th day of November next, at this office, particulars in writing of their objections to any of the said applications, otherwise they will be precluded from urging the same.

No. 3091.—FRANK BAGSHAWE WHEELER, of Sydney, New South Wales, Merchant, has deposited at this office a specification of an invention for improvements in water-closets.

No. 3092.—JAMES WALTER BUTCHER and WILLIAM TRUE BENNETT, both of Sydney, New South Wales, Merchants, have deposited at this office a specification of an invention for improvements in gas-pressure regulators and in gas-burners.

And I have appointed Thursday, the 22nd day of November next, at 11 o’clock in the forenoon, at this office, to hear the said applications and all objections thereto; and I require all persons having an interest in opposing the grant of any such Letters Patent to leave, on or before the 7th day of November next, at this office, particulars in writing of their objections to any of the said applications, otherwise they will be precluded from urging the same.

Goldfields Notices.

Gold-mining Lease cancelled.

Wellington, 4th July, 1888.

IT is hereby notified that His Excellency the Governor has been pleased to pronounce the under-mentioned gold-mining lease cancelled, and that the ground is now open for application as if no lease of the said ground had ever been applied for:—
Alexander Fraser, Robert Rennie, and Patrick Connelly; Section 11, Block VI., Skipper’s Creek, Otago Mining District.

Agricultural Lease cancelled.

Wellington, 3rd July, 1888.

IT is hereby notified that His Excellency the Governor has been pleased to pronounce the under-mentioned agricultural lease cancelled, and that the ground is now open for application as if no lease of the said ground had ever been applied for:—
Thomas McDonnell; Section 12, Block X., Shotover District, Otago Mining District. No. 1858c.

Native Land Court Notices.

In the Native Land Court of New Zealand.—Mokau-Mohakatino No. 1 Block.

WHEREAS by an order of the Court, made on the 23rd day of June, 1882, during a sitting held at Waitara, for the investigation of the title to land named in such order, Mokau-Mohakatino No. 1, it was ordered that a certificate of title to such land should be issued, pursuant to “The Native Land Court Act, 1880,” when a sufficient plan and description had been deposited in Court: And whereas a survey of the said land has now been made, and a sufficient plan and description of the land have been this day deposited in Court:

Now notice is hereby given that the said plan of the said land will be deposited for public inspection on the 9th day of July, 1888, at the office of the Chief Surveyor, Government Survey Office, New Plymouth, and will there remain, for the purpose of affording such inspection, for fourteen days; and all persons desirous of objecting to the boundaries of Mokau-Mohakatino No. 1, as set out in the said plan, are hereby required to state their objections to the Court in writing, by delivering such statement to the Registrar of the Native Land Court, at Auckland, on or before the 1st day of August, 1888.

For public convenience a tracing of the said plan of Mokau-Mohakatino No. 1 will be forthwith deposited for public inspection in the building used as its place of sitting by the Native Land Court at Otorohanga.

Application for Rehearing of Claim dismissed.

NATIVE LAND COURT, NEW ZEALAND:
DISTRICT OF GISBORNE.

IN the matter of a judgment of the Court given during a session advertised to be opened at Hastings, in the said district, on the 8th day of July, 1884, and adjourned thence to Wairoa, Hawke’s Bay, upon the hearing of a claim for partition of a block of land situate in the said district, and known as Aranui; and in the matter of the application of Rongorua te Nohu for a rehearing upon such claim:

I, John Edwin Macdonald, Chief Judge of the said Court, and in exercise of the authority in that behalf vested in me, do hereby dismiss such application.
