No. 4. “An Act to adapt and assimilate the Trusts of Wesleyan Methodist Church Properties to the present Constitution of such Church in New Zealand, and for other Collateral Purposes.”

I observe that the Naval Defences Act (No. 39) differs from the Acts passed by the Legislatures of the other colonies in connection with the same subject, in the insertion of the word “European” before “population” (section 4). I assume that the same limitation is practically intended by the other Australasian Legislatures.

Result of Poll for Proposed Loan, Manchester Road District, County of Oroua.

THE following notice, received from the Chairman of the Manchester Road Board, is published in accordance with “The Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1886.”

RESULT OF POLL, No. 5 SUBDIVISION, MANCHESTER ROAD DISTRICT.

THE following is the result of the poll taken on the 18th June, 1888, on proposals to borrow £4,000 for road-making in No. 5 Subdivision, and half cost of making the Bunnythorpe-Feilding Road and traffic bridge at Aorangi, over Oroua River.

Ratepayers on the roll, 115; representing 148 votes. Votes recorded for the proposals, 60; number of ratepayers voting, 44.

As the number of ratepayers voting for the proposals and the number of votes recorded are less than the half, I hereby declare the proposals rejected.

Application for Registration of a Trade Mark.

NOTICE is hereby given that WATSON BROTHERS AND COMPANY, of Maclaggan Street, Dunedin, in the Colony of New Zealand, General Printers and Stationers, have applied, on behalf of JAMES RUNCIMAN, of Green Island, in the aforesaid colony, Miller, to register, under “The Trade Marks Act, 1866,” the trade mark of which the following is a description:—

Description of Trade Mark.

A representation of a sun surrounded by rays, across the sun is a band or label upon which are the words “not to be eclipsed;” below the sun are the words “Snowdrift Flour.” Applicant claims the right to use this trade mark in any colour or colours, and also to use the words “Snowdrift Flour” either with or without the rest of the mark, and also to use the sun-rays and band with or without the words “Snowdrift Flour.”

Nature of the Articles to which it is intended such Trade Mark shall apply.

NOTICE is hereby given that EDWARD WATERS, Patent Agent, of Melbourne, in the Colony of Victoria, has applied, on behalf of WILLIAM TEACHER AND SONS, of 14, St. Enoch Square, Glasgow, in the County of Lanark, North Britain, Wholesale Dealers in Wines and Spirits, to register, under “The Trade Marks Act, 1866,” the trade mark of which the following is a description:—

Description of Trade Mark.

A label with the words “Perfection of old Whisky, Teacher’s Highland Cream” at the top, and in the centre a monogram of the firm, above which are the words “Wm. Teacher & Sons,” and underneath the words “Highland Whisky, Glasgow,” and at each side of the monogram the words “very old.” At the bottom of the label are the words “This bottle contains one-sixth of a gallon,” and the signature of the firm, “William Teacher & Sons.”

Nature of the Article to which it is intended such Trade Mark shall apply.
