hereto, all the powers conferred by the Act aforesaid, except
the powers under or conferred by sections five and twelve
thereof, to the under-mentioned persons, who shall be known
as the Green Island Public Domain Board, namely,—

The Corporation of the Borough of Green Island
(herein referred to as “the Board”), subject to the stipula-
tions hereinafter contained, that is to say,—

  1. The Board shall meet for the transaction of business on
    the third Monday in each month, at four o'clock p.m., at
    the Corporation Office, Green Island, or at such other time or
    place as may from time to time be fixed by the Board. The
    first meeting shall be held on Monday, the sixteenth day
    of July, one thousand eight hundred and eighty-eight.

  2. Special meetings may be convened by the Chairman or
    by any two members of the Board, provided that two days'
    notice of such meeting be given to each member, specifying
    the business to be transacted at such special meeting, and
    no other business than that so specified shall be transacted
    at such meeting.

  3. Any three of the said Board shall form a quorum. Any
    meeting may be adjourned from time to time.

  4. The members of the Board shall, at their first meeting,
    and thereafter at an annual meeting to be held on the third
    Wednesday in January in every succeeding year thereafter,
    elect one of themselves to be Chairman, who may join in the
    discussion, and shall have an original as well as a casting
    vote. The Chairman shall hold office until the election of
    his successor.

  5. If at any meeting the Chairman is not present at the
    time appointed for holding the same, the members present
    shall choose some one of their number to be Chairman of
    such meeting.

  6. If, by resignation, death, or incapacity, or otherwise,
    the office of Chairman shall be or become vacant, the mem-
    bers may at any monthly or special meeting appoint a Chair-
    man.

  7. All questions shall be determined by the majority of
    votes of the members of the Board present at a meeting.

SCHEDULE.

All that parcel of land in the Provincial District of Otago,
containing by admeasurement 372 acres 3 roods 4 perches,
more or less, situate in the Dunedin and East Taieri Dis-
trict, and being Section No. 1, Block XIV., of said district.
Bounded towards the north by a road-line 2050 links, by
Green Island Bush District 1600 and 6030 links, by Section
No. 2 of the said Block XIV., 1080 and 350 links, also by
Green Island Bush District 2440, 2000, and 2400 links;
towards the south-east by a road-line, 2330 links; towards
the south by high-water mark of the ocean, 13700 links; and
towards the west by the Kaikorai Stream, 2800 links: be all
the aforesaid linkages more or less.

ORDER IN COUNCIL.

At the Government House, at Wellington, this first
day of May, 1888.

Present:
His Excellency the Governor in Council.

WHEREAS the land mentioned in the Schedule hereto
is required to be taken for a public work authorised
to be constructed by the Government, to wit, the Cuvier
Island Lighthouse:
And whereas the said land is held or occupied by Native
owners:
Now, therefore, in pursuance and exercise of the powers
vested in him by “The Public Works Act, 1882,” and the
amendments thereof, and of all other powers in anywise
enabling him in this behalf, His Excellency Sir William
Francis Drummond Jervois, the Governor of the Colony of
New Zealand, by and with the advice and consent of the
Executive Council of the said colony, doth hereby order that
the Government work known as the Cuvier Island Light-
house shall and may be constructed on the parcel of land
more particularly mentioned in the Schedule hereto.

SCHEDULE.

The parcel of land mentioned hereunder:—

Approximate Area of the Parcel of Land required to be taken. Being Portion of Block No. Being Portion of
A. R. P. 49 0 0 4009 (Native land) Cuvier or Repanga Island.

All in the Provincial District of Auckland; as the said
parcel of land is more particularly delineated on the plan
marked M.D. 1375, deposited in the office of the Minister
for Public Works, at Wellington, in the Provincial District
of Wellington, and thereon bordered red.

Bay of Islands and Kaipara Districts brought under “The
Destitute Persons Act, 1877,” in respect of the Native Race.

WHEREAS by the forty-third section of “The Destitute
Persons Act, 1877,” it is enacted that the said Act
shall come into operation, in respect of persons of the abo-
iginal native race, in such districts and at such times as the
Governor shall from time to time appoint:
Now, therefore, I, William Francis Drummond Jervois,
the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, in pursuance
and exercise of the power and authority vested in me in this
behalf, do hereby appoint the districts described in the Sche-
dule hereto to be districts in which “The Destitute Persons
Act, 1877,” shall, on and after the first day of July next,
come into operation in respect of persons of the aboriginal
native race.

SCHEDULE.

The Bay of Islands District, as the same is described in a
Proclamation issued under “The Resident Magistrates Act,
1867,” dated the 29th day of February, 1868, and published
in the New Zealand Gazette of the 3rd March, 1868.
The Kaipara District, as the same is described in a Procla-
mation issued under “The Resident Magistrates Act, 1867,”
dated the 9th day of June, 1886, and published in the New
Zealand Gazette of the 17th June, 1886.

As witness the hand of His Excellency the Governor,
this twenty-seventh day of June, one thousand
eight hundred and eighty-eight.

To Charles Arthur FRETWELL, of Rotorua.

IN pursuance of the regulations made by Order in
Council issued on the fifth day of June, one thousand
eight hundred and eighty-three, under the authority of “The
Native Districts Regulation Act, 1858,” and published in
the New Zealand Gazette dated the seventh day of June in
the same year, I do hereby appoint you, the said
Charles Arthur FRETWELL,
to be Poundkeeper for the public pound which has been
established on Section 7, Block XI., on the plan of the
Township of Rotorua.

As witness the hand of His Excellency the Governor
of the Colony of New Zealand, this eighteenth
day of June, one thousand eight-hundred and
eighty-eight.
