Abolishing the Wairau and Pelorus and Queen Charlotte
Sound Mining Districts, and constituting the Marlborough
Mining Districts in lieu thereof.

A PROCLAMATION.
IN pursuance of the powers and authorities vested in me
by “The Mining Act, 1886” (hereinafter termed “the
said Act”), I, William Francis Drummond Jervois, the
Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, do hereby abolish
the Wairau and Pelorus and Queen Charlotte Sound Mining
Districts, as constituted by Proclamation published in the
New Zealand Gazette No. 66, of the twenty-second day of
December, one thousand eight hundred and eighty six; and
I do hereby constitute in lieu thereof the portion of the
colony particularly described in the Schedule hereto, under
the name of the Marlborough Mining Districts; and I do
hereby further proclaim and declare that this Proclamation
shall take effect as from the ninth day of July next.
SCHEDULE.
MARLBOROUGH MINING DISTRICTS.
ALL that area in the Provincial District of Marlborough
bounded towards the north and west generally by the Pro-
vincial District of Nelson, from Tophouse to the Pelorus
River, and by that river to the waters of Pelorus Sound;
thence by the Pelorus Sound to Mahakipawa; thence by the
public road to the deep-water landing-place at the Grove;
thence by the waters of Queen Charlotte Sound to Wedge
Point; towards the east generally by the summit of the range
dividing the Waitohi Valley from Mahakipawa, Kaituna,
and Waikakaho Valleys, over Trig. C, Cloudy Bay Survey
District, to the Wairau River; and towards the south gene-
rally by the Wairau River to the commencing-point.
Also all that area in the Provincial District of Marlborough
bounded towards the north and north-west by Port Gore,
from the southern boundary-line of Titirangi Run to Cape
Jackson; thence towards the south-east generally by Queen
Charlotte Sound to Section No. 111, Linkwater Survey Dis-
trict, in Torea Moua Bay; thence again towards the north-
west by said Section No. 111; again towards the north and
towards the west by Section No. 93, Linkwater Survey Dis-
trict, to the summit of the watershed between Kenepuru
Sound and Queen Charlotte Sound; thence again towards
the north-west by the summit of the said watershed and the
summit of the watershed between Pelorus Sound and Queen
Charlotte Sound, over Mount Stokes, to Titirangi Run afore-
said; and thence again towards the north by that run to
Port Gore, the place of commencement.

Francis Drummond Jervois, Lieutenant-General
in Her Majesty’s Army, Knight Grand Cross of the
Most Distinguished Order of Saint Michael and
Saint George, Companion of the Most Honourable
Order of the Bath, Governor and Commander-in-
Chief in and over Her Majesty’s Colony of New
Zealand and its Dependencies, and Vice-Admiral
of the same; and issued under the Seal of the
said Colony, at the Government House, at Wel-
ington, this twenty-fifth day of June, in the year
of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and
eighty-eight.

Leasing as a Small Grazing Run under “The Land Act,
1885.”

A PROCLAMATION.
BY virtue and in exercise of the powers and authorities
vested in me by the one hundred and ninety-seventh
section of “The Land Act, 1885,” and of every other power
and authority enabling me in that behalf, I, William
Francis Drummond Jervois, the Governor of the Colony of
New Zealand, do hereby declare that the area of land
mentioned in the Schedule hereto shall be subject to the
provisions of sections one hundred and ninety-eight to two
hundred and nineteen of Part VII. of “The Land Act, 1885,”
relating to small grazing runs.
SCHEDULE.
ALL that area in the Provincial District of Marlborough,
Linkwater Survey District, estimated to contain 500 acres.
Bounded generally northerly by Mahau Sound, from the
northernmost corner of Section No. 1, Block VI., said survey
district, to the north-western corner of Section No. 164,
Pelorus Sound District; thence generally easterly by that
section and by Section No. 21, Pelorus Sound District afore-
said, to the summit of a leading spur, and by that spur to
the summit of the range between Mahau and Queen Charlotte
Sounds; thence generally southerly by the summit of the
range to a point in transit with the north-eastern boundary-
line of Section No. 1, Block VI. aforesaid; and thence
generally westerly by that boundary-line and its production
to the commencing-point: as the same is more particularly
delineated on the plan deposited in the office of the Chief
Surveyor, Blenheim.
