Description of Trade Mark.

The representation of a crescent with a fish on the right-hand side thereof; below the crescent and fish are the words “Port Chalmers, Otago, N.Z.,” and underneath these, in a semicircle, is the name of the firm, “J. Tunnage & Son.”

Nature of the Articles to which it is intended such Trade Mark shall apply.

Fresh and preserved fish, including canned fish, smoked fish, or fish otherwise preserved.

Application for Registration of Two Trade Marks.

NOTICE is hereby given that ARCHIBALD CLARK AND SONS, of Auckland, in the Colony of New Zealand, Warehousemen and Manufacturers, have applied to register, under “The Trade Marks Act, 1866,” the trade marks of which the following is a description:—

Description of Trade Mark No. 1.

Two shields placed diagonally, the one to the right slightly overlapping that to the left. Resting on the two shields is a crown surmounted by a stag. In the centre of the left-hand shield is a Maltese cross on a dark ground. The right-hand shield bears a ship in full sail. Underneath the two shields are the words “Trade Mark.”

Description of Trade Mark No. 2.

A parallelogram formed by single lines with double lines inside. Between the single and the double lines are a row of dots; in the centre is a Scotch thistle, with the letters “A C & S” above, and the words “Trade Mark” underneath.

Nature of the Articles to which it is intended Trade Mark No. 1 shall apply.

Colonial-made clothing.

Nature of the Articles to which it is intended Trade Mark No. 2 shall apply.

NOTICE is hereby given that ALFRED DE LISSA, of 313, George Street, Sydney, in the Colony of New South Wales, Solicitor, has applied, on behalf of JOHN CORBETT, of Stoke Prior Salt-works, near Bromsgrove, Worcestershire, England, also trading as Weston and Westall, at 115, Lower Thames Street, in the City of London, England, Salt Manufacturer, to register, under “The Trade Marks Act, 1866,” the trade marks of which the following is a description:—

Description of Trade Mark No. 1.

The words “The Black Horse.”

Description of Trade Mark No. 2.

The device of two semicircles enclosing the device of a horse, and the words “Worcestershire Salt, Trade Mark, Factory filled,” with the word “Corbett” outside the device.

NOTICE is hereby given that EDWARD WATERS, Patent Agent, of Melbourne, in the Colony of Victoria, has applied, on behalf of THE OSWEGO COMPANY, also trading as “The Oswego Prepared Corn and Starch Company” and as “The Oswego Starch Factory” (T. Kingsford and Son, Manufacturers), of Oswego, in the United States of America, and 44, Upper Thames Street, London, England, Manufacturers, to register, under “The Trade Marks Act, 1866,” the trade marks numbered 1 and 2 respectively, of which the following is a description:—

Description of Trade Marks.

No. 1 consists of the words “Oswego Silver Gloss Starch.”
No. 2 consists of the words “Oswego prepared Corn.”

Nature of the Articles to which it is intended such Trade Marks shall apply.

As to No. 1, in respect of starch for laundry and manufacturing purposes; and as to No. 2, in respect of substances used as food or as ingredients in food, including corn-flour.

Special Order made by Whataupoko Road Board, County of Cook.

THE following special order, made by the Whataupoko Road Board, is published in accordance with “The Road Boards Act, 1882.”

SPECIAL ORDER made by the Whataupoko Road Board, Cook County, on the 5th day of June, 1888.

THAT this Board do now proceed, by special order, to make a special rate of nine-sixteenths of a penny in the pound on all rateable property within the district for a period of twenty-six years, commencing on the 10th day of April, 1888, and ending on the 9th day of April, 1914, for the purpose of providing interest upon a sum of £2,300, to be borrowed from the Government, in terms of “The Government Loans to Local Bodies Act, 1886.” The rate to be due and payable in two half-yearly instalments on the 21st day of June and on the 21st day of December in each year.

I certify that the foregoing special order has been made in accordance with law, and that all the requirements of the Loans to Local Bodies Act and the Road Boards Act have been complied with.

Special Order made by Manawatu Road Board, County of Oroua.

THE following special order, made by the Manawatu Road Board, is published in accordance with “The Road Boards Act, 1882.”

SPECIAL ORDER.

THAT, to provide for the payment of interest and other annual charges on a loan of £985, a special rate of seven-eighths of a penny in the pound be levied on the rateable values of the following sections, viz., Nos. 3, 4, 60 to 71, 419, 509 to 515, 520 to 527, 1467 to 1510, 1527 to 1535, Bunnythorpe and Palmerston, all inclusive. Such rate to be an annually-recurring rate for a period of twenty-six years, payable in two instalments, on the 1st day of May and the 1st day of November respectively in each year.

I hereby certify that the above special order has been duly passed by the Manawatu Road Board.

Result of Poll for Proposed Loans (2), County of Bruce.

THE following notices, received from the Chairman of the Bruce County Council, are published in accordance with “The Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1886.”

RESULT of poll in proposal to borrow £200, under “The Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1886,” for the erection of a bridge over Akatore Creek, Glenledi Riding, County of Bruce, on the 28th day of April, 1888:—

Total number of ratepayers on roll, 37; representing 47 votes. Votes recorded for the proposal, 14; number of ratepayers voting for the proposal, 11; votes against, nil; number of ratepayers voting against the proposal, nil; votes not recorded, 23.

As the majority in number of the ratepayers did not vote in favour of the proposal, I do hereby declare that the proposal was not carried.
