Reward of £10,000 offered, for the Discovery of New Gold-fields.—Amended Conditions.

REWARDS of £10,000 are offered for the discovery of new goldfields, upon the amended conditions set forth hereunder.

AMENDED CONDITIONS.

The maximum sum offered as a reward for any proved discovery of a new goldfield in accordance with these conditions is £5,000 for the North Island, and £5,000 for the Middle Island.

The newly-discovered goldfield must be situated not less than forty miles from any existing goldfield or any existing workings.

No reward shall be payable until 50,000 ounces of gold have been produced from the newly-discovered goldfield within three years from the date of its being registered.

Any person discovering new gold-workings, and being desirous of obtaining the reward, shall immediately forward a written report of such discovery, with full particulars, to the Warden or Resident Magistrate of the district within which such discovery shall be situated, and the Warden or Resident Magistrate shall forthwith register the report as an application for reward.

No prospecting will be allowed upon Native land without a prospecting license authorising the person therein named, with the consent of the owner of the land, to prospect, in accordance with the provisions of sections one hundred and thirty-five to one hundred and thirty-seven of “The Mining Act, 1886,” inclusive.
No reward shall be paid for any discovery that may be made upon Native land without the consent of the Native owners and the approval of the Minister of Mines.
Sale of Unclaimed Property.

THE unclaimed property described hereunder, and now in possession of the police, at the stations named, will, unless previously claimed, be sold by public auction, at the respective Police Offices, on Saturday, the 26th instant, at noon, in accordance with the Police Regulations.
Auckland: Two revolvers and cartridges, one double- and one single-barrelled gun, piccolo, tweed coat, two dresses, and sundries.
Napier: Silver lever hunting watch, No. 3238; two gold rings, gold brooch, gold-plated locket, silver bracelet, nickel-silver revolver, saddle, and sundries.
Gisborne: Two gold keeper-rings, black-silk bag, pair reins, double-barrelled gun, and sundries.
Wanganui: Silver Geneva watch, No. 74912; jet brooch, silver bracelet, gold and cornelian brooch, two gold rings, and sundries.
Wellington: Two umbrellas, parcel of dress material, and sundries.
Nelson: Silver Geneva watch, three rings, bridle, and sundries.
Blenheim: Pair of blankets and sundry articles of clothing.
Invercargill: Greenstone pendant, shawl, spade, and sundries.
Dunedin: Metal watch, No. 28194, and steel chain; silver snuff-box, earring, breast-pin, four umbrellas, parcel of calico, and sundries.
Clyde: Silver lever open-faced watch with silver dial and gilt numerals, No. 6553.

No. 2975.—AMOS HERBERT HOBSON, of 5, Westminster Chambers, Victoria Street, in the City of Westminster, England, Analytical Chemist, has deposited at this office a specification of an invention for improvements in the treatment of bones and animal waste or refuse generally, for the purpose of rendering the same more suited for fertilising purposes, and for obtaining gelatine, glue, and size.
No. 2976.—JOHN CAMPBELL, of Edinburgh, Scotland, has deposited at this office a specification of an invention for improvements in a new or improved sheep-dipping composition.
No. 2977.—WILLIAM DUNSMORE BOHM, of Acton, Middlesex, England, Engineer, has deposited at this office a specification of an invention for an improved process and apparatus for the expulsion of noxious gases from liquids which may hold them in mechanical solution.
No. 2980.—JAMES RANDALL GASCOIGNE, of Devonport, Auckland, New Zealand, Gentleman, has deposited at this office a specification of an invention for Gascoigne’s I.X.L. hedge-clipping and pruning shears.
