to be Town Clerk of the Borough of Foxton, and also Returning Officer for the purpose of conducting the first elections of Mayor and of six Councillors for the said borough; also to appoint Thursday, the 17th May, 1888, to be the day for holding the said first election of Mayor, and Friday, the 18th May, 1888, to be the day for the said first election of six Councillors; and also to appoint Monday, the 21st May, 1888, at 2 o’clock in the afternoon, to be the time, and the Public Library, Foxton, to be the place, at which the first meeting of the Borough Council of Foxton shall be held.

THE following special order, made by the Taratahi-Carterton Road Board, is published in accordance with “The Road Boards Act, 1882.”

SPECIAL ORDER.
THAT this Board, by special order, do constitute the whole of No. 1 Subdivision of the Taratahi-Carterton Road District a special rating district under “The Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1886,” for the purpose of levying thereon a special rate of nine-twenty-fifths of a penny in the pound to provide for the payment of interest at 5 per centum per annum upon a loan of £1,700, applied for and provisionally granted by Government under “The Government Loans to Local Bodies Act, 1886,” and its amendment; and, further, that this Board do, by special order, make and levy such special rate of nine-twenty-fifths of a penny in the pound upon the values of the rateable property in No. 1 Subdivision (Crown and Native lands excepted), for the purpose of providing for the payment of the aforesaid interest at 5 per centum per annum upon the aforesaid loan of £1,700; such special rate to be an annually-recurring rate for twenty-six years, and to be payable to the Clerk or Treasurer of the Board in one sum on the first Saturday in the month of June of each year, for twenty-six years, commencing with the present year 1888.
I certify that the above special order has been duly passed by the Taratahi-Carterton Road Board on the 7th day of April, 1888.
