Taranaki Education Board to be subject to the Provisions of “The Public Bodies’ Powers Act, 1887.”

ORDER IN COUNCIL.
At the Government House, at Wellington, this ninth day of April, 1888.
Present:
HIS EXCELLENCY THE GOVERNOR IN COUNCIL.
WHEREAS by section four of “The Public Bodies’ Powers Act, 1887.” (hereinafter termed “the said Act”), it is provided that the Governor, by Order in Council, may from time to time declare that any leasing authority shall be subject to the provisions of the said Act, but that no such order shall have any effect unless it be issued at the request or upon the recommendation of the leasing authority on whose behalf such order is issued:
And whereas it has been made to appear that the Education Board of the District of Taranaki, in so far as it is charged with the control and management of the New Plymouth High School, is a leasing authority within the meaning of the said Act, and has requested that it may be brought under the provisions thereof:
Now, therefore, His Excellency Sir William Francis Drummond Jervois, the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council thereof, and in pursuance and exercise of the powers and authorities conferred on him by the said Act, doth hereby order and declare that from and after the date hereof the said Board shall, in the discharge of its functions under “The New Plymouth High School Act, 1878,” be subject to the provisions of “The Public Bodies’ Powers Act, 1887.”

Now, therefore, His Excellency the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, acting by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council of the said colony, doth hereby order and declare that the Wyndham Town Board shall, as from the date of the publication hereof in the New Zealand Gazette, be subject to the provisions of the said Act.

Now, therefore, His Excellency the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, acting by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council of the said colony, doth hereby order and declare that the Mataura Town Board shall, as from the date of the publication hereof in the New Zealand Gazette, be subject to the provisions of the said Act.

ORDER IN COUNCIL.
At the Government House, at Wellington, this ninth day of April, 1888.
Present:
HIS EXCELLENCY THE GOVERNOR IN COUNCIL.
IN exercise and pursuance of the powers and authorities vested in him by “The Public Domains Act, 1881,” His Excellency the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council thereof, doth hereby revoke a certain Order in Council, dated the sixteenth day of September, one thousand eight hundred and seventy-nine, making delegation of certain powers in manner as therein appears; and doth, with the like advice and consent, by this present order, delegate, but only with respect to the piece or parcel of land described in the Schedule hereto, all the powers conferred by the Act aforesaid, except the powers under or conferred by sections five and twelve thereof, to the under-mentioned persons, who shall be known as the East Gore (Gordon) Public Domain Board, namely,—
EDWARD McGILL,
EBENEZER McGIBBON,
ALEXANDER BROWN,
JOHN MACGIBBON, Junior,
JOHN MCCAW,
FREDERICK WALLIS, and
ROBERT DUNLOP
(herein referred to as “the Board”), subject to the stipulations hereinafter contained, that is to say,—

The Board shall meet for the transaction of business on the first Monday in each month, at eight o’clock p.m., at the Provincial Hotel, East Gore, or at such other time or place as may from time to time be fixed by the Board. The first meeting shall be held on Monday, the seventh day of May, one thousand eight hundred and eighty-eight.

Special meetings may be convened by the Chairman or by any two members of the Board, provided that two days’ notice of such meeting be given to each member, specifying the business to be transacted at such special meeting, and no other business than that so specified shall be transacted at such meeting.

Any three of the said Board shall form a quorum. Any meeting may be adjourned from time to time.

The members of the Board shall, at their first meeting, and thereafter at an annual meeting to be held on the first Monday in February in every succeeding year thereafter, elect one of themselves to be Chairman, who may join in the discussion, and shall have an original as well as a casting vote. The Chairman shall hold office until the election of his successor.

If at any meeting the Chairman is not present at the time appointed for holding the same, the members present shall choose some one of their number to be Chairman of such meeting.

If, by resignation, death, or incapacity, or otherwise, the office of Chairman shall be or become vacant, the members may at any monthly or special meeting appoint a Chairman.
