A PROCLAMATION.
BY virtue and in exercise of the powers and authorities
vested in me by the one hundred and ninety-seventh
section of “The Land Act, 1885,” and of every other power
and authority enabling me in that behalf, I, William
Francis Drummond Jervois, the Governor of the Colony of
New Zealand, do hereby declare that the sections of land
mentioned in the Schedule hereto shall be subject to the
provisions of sections one hundred and ninety-eight to two
hundred and nineteen of Part VII. of “The Land Act, 1885,”
relating to small grazing runs.

Licensing Districts defined.

A PROCLAMATION.
WHEREAS by the sixth section of “The Licensing Act,
1881,” it is enacted that the Governor shall, as
soon as conveniently may be after the commencement of the
said Act, by Proclamation in the Gazette, from time to time
define districts to be licensing districts under the said Act,
and from time to time may alter and redefine the boundaries
of the same:
Now, therefore, I, William Francis Drummond Jervois,
the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, do hereby, in
pursuance and exercise of the power and authority vested in
me by the said Act, alter and redefine the boundaries of the
Karori Licensing District, which shall, from and after the
fifth day of April instant, be those described in the First
Schedule hereto; and do hereby proclaim and define the
part of the colony mentioned and described in the Second
Schedule hereto to be, from and after the said fifth day of
April instant, an ordinary licensing district for the pur-
poses of the said Act.
FIRST SCHEDULE.
HUTT COUNTY.
Karori Licensing District.—All that area known as the
Karori Riding, as described in the New Zealand Gazette
No. 63, 23rd November, 1876; excepting therefrom the
Borough of Melrose, as described in the New Zealand Gazette
No. 14, 5th March, 1888.
SECOND SCHEDULE.
Melrose Licensing District.—All that area known as the
Borough of Melrose, as described in the New Zealand Gazette
No. 14, 5th March, 1888.

Declaring a certain Road in the County of Piako to be a
County Road.

ORDER IN COUNCIL.
At the Government House, at Wellington, this twenty-
seventh day of March, 1888.
Present:
HIS EXCELLENCY THE GOVERNOR IN COUNCIL.
IN pursuance and in exercise of the powers vested in him
by “The Public Works Act, 1882,” and of all other
powers in anywise enabling him in this behalf, His Excel-
lency Sir William Francis Drummond Jervois, the Governor
of the Colony of New Zealand, by and with the advice and
consent of the Executive Council of the said colony, doth
hereby order that the road in the County of Piako, described
in the Schedule below, shall, on and after the date above
mentioned, become a county road.
SCHEDULE.
ALL that portion of the Cambridge—Rotorua Road com-
mencing at a point being the intersection of said road with
the eastern boundary of the Township of Cambridge East;
thence running generally in a south-easterly direction for a
distance of 19½ miles or thereabouts to a point being the inter-
section of said road with the north-western boundary of the
Township of Oxford: as the same is more particularly de-
lineated upon the plan marked P.W.D. 15495, deposited in
the office of the Minister for Public Works, at Wellington,
in the Provincial District of Wellington, and thereon coloured
green.

Hares may be killed in the North Island (Wellington and
Wairarapa District excepted).

IN pursuance of the powers vested in me by “The Animals
Protection Act, 1880,” and “The Animals Protection
Act Amendment Act, 1881,” I, William Francis Drummond
Jervois, the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, do
hereby declare that, from and after the date hereof, hares
shall cease to be within the operation of the said Act within
the North Island of New Zealand, excepting in the Counties
of Wairarapa North, Wairarapa South, Hutt, and Horo-
whenua.
As witness the hand of His Excellency the Governor,
this fifth day of April, one thousand eight hun-
dred and eighty-eight.
