Wellington-Napier Railway.

A PROCLAMATION.
WHEREAS it has been found desirable, for the use,
convenience, and enjoyment of the Wellington-
Napier Railway, to take further land at Petone, in addition
to land previously acquired for the purposes of the said rail-
way:
Now, therefore, I, William Francis Drummond Jervois,
the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, in exercise of
the powers and authorities conferred on me by "The Public
Works Act, 1882," and of every other power and authority in
anywise enabling me in that behalf, do hereby proclaim and
declare that the lands mentioned in the Schedule hereto are
taken for the purposes above mentioned.

A PROCLAMATION.
WHEREAS by "The Municipal Corporations Act,
1886," it is, amongst other things, enacted that the
Governor may at any time, upon the petition of the Mayor
and Council of a borough, publicly notified, by a Proclama-
tion, alter the boundaries of such borough so as to include
therein any part of the foreshore or any land reclaimed from
the sea adjacent to such borough: And whereas a petition
has been presented to me by the Mayor and Councillors of
the Borough of Port Chalmers, praying me to alter the
boundaries of the said borough so as to include therein the
pieces of land described in the First Schedule hereto, being
lands reclaimed from the sea and foreshore adjacent to the
said borough:
Now, therefore, I, William Francis Drummond Jervois,
the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, in pursuance of
the powers and authorities vested in me by the said Act, do
hereby proclaim and declare that the boundaries of the said
borough are hereby altered so as to include within the limits
of the said borough the land described in the First Schedule
hereto; and that the said borough shall henceforth be
bounded as specified in the Second Schedule hereto; and,
further, that the boundaries of the High Ward and East
Ward of the said borough shall be those described in the
Third Schedule hereto.
FIRST SCHEDULE.
LAND TO BE ADDED TO THE BOROUGH OF PORT CHALMERS.
ALL that area in the Provincial District of Otago, being part
of Mussel Bay and the land reclaimed therefrom, bounded
towards the north, east, and south generally by the original
high-water mark; and towards the south-west by a right
line being the production in a south-easterly direction of the
north-eastern boundary of Section No. 62, Block VIII.,
Sawyer's Bay Survey District.
Also all that area in the Provincial District of Otago, being
land reclaimed from Koputai Bay, bounded towards the
north-east by a right line proceeding from the most northerly
corner of Beach Street, 158 links; towards the south-east by
Beach Street, 1115 links; towards the south-west by a line
at right angles to Beach Street, 110 links; and towards the
north-west by a right line, 1100 links: be all the aforesaid
linkages a little more or less.
SECOND SCHEDULE.
BOROUGH OF PORT CHALMERS.—EXTENDED BOUNDARIES.
ALL that area in the Provincial District of Otago bounded
towards the north-west by Lower Harbour West Survey Dis-
trict to Carey's Bay; thence towards the north-east by high-
water mark of Otago Harbour to the northernmost point of
the area Crown-granted to the Superintendent of Otago, 7th
April, 1862; thence by a right line, 750 links; thence towards
the south-east by a right line, 1800 links; thence again towards
the north-east by a right line, about 480 links, to the George
Street Pier; thence again towards the south-east by the said
George Street Pier to Beach Street; again towards the
north-east and north-west by the north-eastern and north-
western sides of Beach Street to a point 1115 links from its
most northern extremity; thence towards the south-west by
a line at right angles to Beach Street, 110 links; again
towards the north-west by a right line, 1100 links; again
towards the north-east by a right line 158 links to Beach
Street, and by the eastern side of the said Beach Street to
the southernmost corner of the said area Crown-granted to
the Superintendent of Otago, 7th April, 1862; thence again
towards the south-east, south, and west generally by high-
water mark of Otago Harbour to a point on the southern side
of Mussel Bay in line with the north-eastern boundary of
Section No. 62, Block VIII., Sawyer's Bay Survey District;
and thence again towards the south-west by a right line to
and by the said Section No. 62, Block VIII., Sawyer's Bay
Survey District: be all the aforesaid linkages a little more
or less.
THIRD SCHEDULE.
HIGH WARD.
HIGH WARD is bounded towards the north-west by Lower
Harbour West Survey District to Carey's Bay; thence
towards the north-east by high-water mark of Otago Harbour
to the northernmost point of the area Crown-granted to the
Superintendent of Otago, 7th April, 1862; thence by a right
line, 750 links; thence towards the south-east by a right line,
1800 links; thence again towards the north-east by a right
line, about 480 links, to the George Street Pier; thence again
towards the south-east by the said George Street Pier to
Beach Street; thence by a line being the production of the
north-western side of the said George Street Pier to a point
in line with the middle of Grey Street; thence by a line to
and along the middle of the said Grey Street to a point in
line with the southern boundary-line of Section No. 17, Town
of Port Chalmers; thence towards the south by a line to the
south-eastern corner of that section; thence by Section No.
19; thence towards the south-east generally by the said
Section No. 19 and Sections Nos. 20 and 21, and by the
south-western boundary-line of the last-mentioned section
produced to the middle of Currie Street; thence by a line
along the middle of Currie Street to a point in line with the
south-western boundary-line of Section No. 162; thence by
a line to and by the said Section No. 162 and Sections Nos.
164, 165, 166, 167, 181, 180, 179, 178, and 177, and by the
north-western boundary-line of the last-mentioned section
produced to the high-water mark of Mussel Bay; thence by
the high-water mark on the eastern and southern sides of
Mussel Bay to a point in line with the north-eastern boundary
of Section No. 62, Block VIII., Sawyer's Bay Survey Dis-
trict; thence towards the south-west by a right line across
Mussel Bay to and by the said Section No. 62, Block VIII.,
Sawyer's Bay Survey District.
