Result of Proposed Loan, Geraldine County Council.

THE following notice, received from the Chairman of the Council of the County of Geraldine, is published in accordance with the provisions of “The Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1886.”

NOTICE is hereby given that the poll of the Woodbury Water-supply District, taken on the 4th day of February, 1888, on the proposal of the Geraldine County Council to raise the sum of £500 by way of loan, under the provisions of “The Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1886,” for the purpose of constructing irrigation-works within that part of the Geraldine County known as the Woodbury Water-supply District, resulted as follows:—

Number of ratepayers 46, entitled to 53 votes. Number voting for proposal 24, with 31 votes; number against the proposal, nil.

And as a majority in number of the ratepayers voted in favour of the proposal, and the number so voting are entitled to more than one-half in number of the votes which can be exercised by the whole number of ratepayers, I hereby declare the said proposal to be carried.

Special Order made by Porangahau Road Board, County of Patangata.

THE following special order, made by the Porangahau Road Board, is published in accordance with “The Road Boards Act, 1882.”

SPECIAL ORDER.

THAT a rate of three-eighths of a penny in the pound on the rateable value be levied on all rateable property in the Porangahau Road Board District. The rate to be for the year commencing on the 1st April, 1887, and ending on the 31st March, 1888, and to be payable in one sum on the 15th February, 1888.

I hereby certify that the above special order was duly made in accordance with sections 75 and 76 of “The Road Boards Act, 1882,” at an ordinary meeting of the Porangahau Road Board, held on the 8th February, 1888.

Special Orders made by Southland County Council.—Constituting Waimumu Road District and dissolving Lindhurst Road Board, &c.

THE following special orders, made by the Council of the County of Southland, are published for general information.

SPECIAL ORDER.

THAT this Council, by special order, hereby declares the Waimumu Subdivision of the Lindhurst Road District to be a new road district, under the name of the Waimumu Road District; and that the Board of the said new road district shall consist of six members, the office of such road district to be at Mataura Township, and that an election of such members be held forthwith on the confirmation of this special order.

I declare the above special order to have been duly made on the 14th day of October, 1887.

Resolution confirming the above.

That this Council hereby confirms the special order passed at a special meeting held on the 14th October, 1887, declaring the Waimumu Subdivision of the Lindhurst Road District to be a new road district, under the name of the Waimumu Road District; the Board of the same to consist of six members, to be elected forthwith; the office of the Board to be at Mataura Township; and that the limits of the said Waimumu Road District are as follows, namely: Bounded on the north by the north boundary of Waimumu Survey District; thence on the west by the west boundary of Waimumu Survey District, the west boundary of Lindhurst Survey District, and the east side of the road-line forming the west boundary of the Lothian Survey District to the south-western angle of Section 1, Block II., Lothian Survey District; thence by a line due south across the Old Dunedin Road to the north-western angle of Section 4, Block I., Lothian Survey District; thence towards the south-east by the south-eastern boundary of the said Old Dunedin Road to its contact with the road forming the north boundary of the two-thousand-acre Block XXXV.; thence by the south boundary of said road on north of said Block XXXV.; thence on the east by a line running due north a distance of 100 links; thence again on the south by a line running due east to the Mataura River; thence again towards the east by the Mataura River to the Charlton Creek; thence towards the east and north-east by the Charlton Creek and the north-eastern boundary of Waimumu Survey District till it touches the aforesaid north boundary of said survey district.

I declare the above resolution to have been duly passed on the 13th day of January, 1888.

SPECIAL ORDER.

THAT this Council, by special order, under the provisions of section 13 of “The Road Boards Act, 1882,” hereby declares the Road Board of the Lindhurst Road District to be dissolved, and orders that a fresh election be held of three members for each of the subdivisions remaining in said road district, on confirmation of this special order.

I declare the above special order to have been duly made on the 14th day of October, 1887.

Resolution confirming the above.

That this Council hereby confirms the special order passed at a special meeting held on the 14th October, 1887, under the provisions of section 13 of “The Road Boards Act, 1882,” declaring the Road Board of the Lindhurst Road District to be dissolved, and ordering a fresh election to be held of three members for each of the remaining subdivisions of the said road district, and orders that such fresh election of six members as aforesaid be held forthwith.

I declare the above resolution to have been duly passed on the 13th day of January, 1888.

Notice to Imprestees under “The Public Revenues Act, 1878.”

The Treasury,
Wellington, 16th February, 1888.

EVERY officer holding advances of public money is hereby required to pay to the Public Account, at the nearest branch of the Bank of New Zealand, the total unexpended balance in his hand on or before Saturday, the 31st March proximo, and forthwith to transmit to the Treasury at Wellington the bank receipt for such repayment, together with an account of his expenditure to the same date, as required by clause 4 of the Treasury Regulations.

As respects disbursements which officers may require to make during the week following the close of the financial year, requisitions for the amount required are to be made in such time as to enable them to reach Wellington not later than the 24th March, so that the requisite funds may be placed at the disposal of the officer on the 2nd April.

Notice to Mariners, No. 4 of 1888.

MADRAS LIGHTHOUSE.

Marine Department,
Wellington, 15th February, 1888.

TELEGRAPHIC advice has been received from Madras that the light at the Madras Lighthouse will be extinguished for repairs for twenty-five days, and that it will then be re-exhibited without change in character or power. The date from which it will be extinguished cannot be deciphered in the telegram, but probably it will be from the present time.
